Addressbook problem after upgrade

I have just upgraded egroupware community edition from 1.8 to v14.

When I login to egroupware and attempt to access the addressbook (other apps seem ok) I get this error message:

An error happened

File ‘merge_master_test.rtf’ is not an absolute path.

When I click on ‘OK’ on the popup dialogue box, I am then left with a blank main addressbook window within the egroupware screen. Can someone advise what this error means and how to fix it?

I have searched in the forum for a possible solution to this (as far back as October 2014) but couldn’t find anything that seemed relevant to this error.

Hello again.

I have not had any response to my message from last week regarding the inability to use the addressbook after upgrading the community edition from 1.8 to v14 last week. Our eGroupware installation is running on a Debian 7 system. Does anyone have any insight into the issue we are facing? It seems that I have done something wrong, or not done something as part of the upgrade. I restored the database after the install with no change in behaviour.

Obviously I am missing something here but can’t see what that might be. Any enlightenment or suggestions would be welcome.

Should I remove v14 completely and reinstall, and restore the database afterwards? Can/should I revert to v1.8? Am I thinking in too drastic terms here, is there a more obvious/simpler solution that I just haven’t thought of yet?

Again, thanks in advance for any help that may be forthcoming.

How did You upgrade, you’ve went to setup and controlled all is OK?

Did you try delete cache and register hooks etc.?
Have a look in the apache log.

I don’t remember doing that but our installation is a couple of years
old now so I don’t doubt that it was done. Can you please advise me

option, or any field with that as its content. Just to be sure we are
talking about the same version, eGroupware is version 14.2. Further

No wonder I can’t change the setting - in our eGroupWare installation,
I don’t see what you see. Those settings are missing entirely. Here is
a screenshot of what I see in Addressbook preferences | Data exchange
settings:

I hope we are getting closer to a resolution now.
If you dont see it in your personal preferences an admin forced that
setting: change top right select-box to “Forced preferences”.
