Cli.php mount filesystem issue

Hi I am trying to mount a local directory in my server and I have tried the following commands to mount it but am having no such luck.

./cli.php mount --user root_$myuser --password $mypassword filesystem://default/var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo?group=whitebuffalo&mode=0777 /home/usswhitebuffalo/
[8] 18007
and get the error:
-bash: /home/usswhitebuffalo/: No such file or directory

I have also tried reversing it so it says:
./cli.php mount --user root_$myuser --password $myspassword filesystem:///home/usswhitebuffalo?group=whitebuffalo&mode=0777 /var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo
[9] 18692

and get the following error
-bash: /var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo: is a directory

[8]+ Stopped ./cli.php mount --user root_$myuser --password $mypassword filesystem://default/var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo?group=whitebuffalo

what am I doing wrong?

hi, I tried that and all I got was the following:

Then you made a mistake typing it, that syntax works. I use it frequently.

Your problem habe been ambersands (&) in the url part, which get
interpreted by shell. Therefore you need eg. single quotes arround the
url. I also split the command line in 3 lines concatinated by
backslashes, maybe you made a mistake there. Most easy is to put
everything in one line …

ok got the typing error fixed, but now im getting this:

filesystem_stream_wrapper::parse_query(‘group=whitebuffalo&mode=0777’) unknown group-name ‘’!
egw_vfs::mount(‘filesystem://default/var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo?group=whitebuffalo&mode=0777’,’/home/usswhitebuffalo’) url does NOT exist!

Root access granted!
URL ‘filesystem://default/var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo?group=whitebuffalo&mode=0777’ not found or permission denied (are your root?)!

but when I go to /home/usswhitebuffalo in file manager theres nothing there, but when I browse var/flexshare/shares/whitebuffalo via explorer or a network client I can see everything in the directory

but when I go to /home/usswhitebuffalo in file manager theres nothing there,

Maybe webserver user has no access, or you forgot to log out and in
again, after you did the mount.

I have it mounted now, but I can only download files, I can’t upload or delete files from the directory. how do I fix this?

Guess you will have a permission issue.
egroupware will access the files as the user apache is running under, in
the case of ubuntu it would be www-data. If www-data has no write
permissions, it will naturally fail.

Please recall that the underlaying system need to have access first
before the egroupware layer can be used to give permissions.

Hi.

Authentication does not matter. This is agroupware again.
IF you really want users to upload then you have to add the apache user
(www-data) to the group of people that have permissions to write to the
FILESYSTEM.
However please note that you are creating a potential security risk
here. a mounted filesystem is a REAL filesystem, not a virtual
filesystem as egroupware.
That means that any process or user that attacks (and succeeds) through
apache will have access to your filesystem.
You have to decide for yourself whether you take the risk or not.

One solution is to create an upload folder, that has write permissions
and leave the rest of the filesytem read-only. That minimises risks.

I personally have the FS readonly and use the egroupware virtual
filesystem for write access. It’s already risky to expose too much of
the filesystem in read-only to the whole world.

You can use the terminal via “usermod -a --groups [GROUP] www-data” or
through your UI, whatever that is, to add www-data to a group [GROUP]
and then use chown -R :[GROUP] to assign that group to the filesystem.
You then have to give the group write permissions with chmod -R g+w [PATH].

PS: I take no responsibility for any data-loss, any catastrophes,
hacker-attacks etc…
