EGroupware Disaster I broke my EGroupware

Yesterday I was cleaning out some old configuration files on my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server.

Somehow something necessary for Egroupware was accidently removed. Now Egroupware will not start. I get the Egroupware setup page. It says I have not created a header.inc.php file, yet looking at the file system I have created it. It exists and I have a lot of older versions of it.

I don’t see the apache process running but when I go to my server, I get the setup page.

When I run systemctl status apache2.service I get apache won’t start and get an error
apache2: Syntax error on line 307 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/conf.d/egroupware: No such file or directory
/etc/apache2/conf.d/egroupware is a link to …/…/egroupware/apache.conf which does not exist.

I should have backups of the database but so far I haven’t located them.

OK Iv’ve gotten Apache to start. I restored the file /etc/egroupware/apache2.conf which was missing and now Apache2 runs. I am still getting the setup page when I go to the server. When I run systemctl status apache2 ut properly starts apache2.

Checking the installation I see the following errors and alerts:

Checking PEAR pear.horde.org/Horde_Icalendar (2.0.0) is installed: False
PEAR::Horde_Icalendar is needed by: Api/Mail.
You can install it by running: cd /usr/share/egroupware; php composer.phar install

Warning Checking PEAR::Text_Diff is installed: False
PEAR::Text_Diff is needed by: Wiki (diff in notifications).
You can install it by running: cd /usr/share/egroupware; php composer.phar install

Hi Robert.

I can’t help you with your type of installation.

But the EGroupware files should be in the same place (if you have not set the paths differently).

I have backups of everything, I’m currently trying to repair the damage I did, I’m not completely sure what was damaged.

OK I have now recovered the header.inc.php and I’am now getting a Setup screen with The Setup / config admin login and the Header admin login windows. I a little confused about why I’m getting this because the user names and passwords are in the header.inc.php files.

I suspect that the databases were somehow affected. I guess I need to restore them next.

I located the database files I’m now wondering if the header.inc.php I restored is somehoe different that the old one. It contains password hashes for the mysql database and the header and confi user… Unfortunately I don’t have the original passwords I wonder if I can reset them to access the databases again.

I’ve now gotten access to the admin accounts, but the database is reporting not ready, although I can see the files.
