root means the following:
a) Username and password you use for Setup (upper login) or
b) any user named in Setup >> Configuration >> " User names,
comma-separated, which can get VFS root access (beside setup user)" with
his Username and regular password
That was done to ensue not every EGroupware admin can view files of all
users.

Hello
We have Egroupware almost setup. Tested that CardDAV, CalDAV, and WebDav are
working as intended.
We also wanted to enable versioning on directories as I can see it should be
available in the File Manager section.
There is a login field, however it says the following: “You need to become
root, to enable or disable versioning on a directory!”
I have tried with admin and sql-user but none of them works. Is anyone able
to assist? I have been looking in the Filemanager manual but I do not see it
being described very well.
We are running Egroupware 14.2 (14.2.20150421-1) latest build from april.
I appreciate any help.
