Is an upgrade to Egroupware 19.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 too easy?

Reading over the install and upgrade instructions it seems to be too easy so I think I must be missing something.

I have Egroupware 17.1 on Ubuntu16.04 installed and working.
I have the Open Suse repository set up.

It seems from reading then notes I I need to do is install docker.

sudo apt install egroupware-docker

Is it really that easy. or did I miss something?

For an in-place upgrade on Ubuntu 16.04, that should be it.

Anyway it will tell you after you pressed enter which packages are going to be installed or removed.

What’s important is:

The existing web server becomes the reverse proxy If other web services have been configured there so far, this must be adapted afterwards. See:

The hard disk space must be sufficient. It is installed in the standard Collabora Online and Rocket.Chat. You can turn this off (Better install it …):

I’ll need to check to see if the existing install is set to the defaults, it’s been a long time since I looked at them.

I have approximately 44GB of free disk space on the file system where it will be be installed and 16GB of RAM with less than half normally in use.

So I think I should be OK.

I have here

once along an installation documents the required hard disk space. In the end a complete 19.1 installation requires ~ 8.5 GB RAM and ~1.6 GB RAM. This is of course much more than a 17.1, but still very little for that functionality.
Then you have to add your user data and see how the RAM behaves in operation.
But you should have no problems with your ressources.

I’m running an installation with a company (~80 users simultaneously):
32GB hard disk
4 GB RAM
4 Core CPU
That’s very generous. But I have this at my disposal.

Do you want to install this directly on a server or are you virtualizing? I use Proxmox VE. It pays off if you only virtualize EGroupware. Especially when it comes to backup and update strategy.

I will probably install directly.

I’m in the process of solving another issue but intend to install 19.1 on a new Ubuntu 18.04 LTS server. The one 17.1 is on now is a 32 bit Ubuntu 16.04 LTS which has been upgraded through several versions of Ubuntu and Egroupware, a couple of motherboard swaps and a couple of sets of Hard Drives (currently 2- 1 TB arrays, 16 GB of RAM and an 8 core processor.). It’s time to re-purpose it.
