It takes long time to log in

Hi
We have a problem with EGroupware Community Version 1.8.002 as it takes long time to log in like 2 minutes…
After it finally logs in it works good.
Users are authenticated with AD and stored in SQL.
Please help me with finding what could be wrong.

It’s on ubuntu server, apache and mysql.

Dear All,

I’m trying to paste a table in an email in html format.
The table is well inserted but it looses all the formatting properties.

Am I doing something wrong or is it a limit of egroupware.

Maybe there is an issue with the communication with AD?

Is your eGroupware box DNS server set to the AD DNS server (usually the DC but not necessarily)?

Are you running Ubuntu 10.04 under ESXi 4 by any chance?

Yes it is a ubuntu and it is a virtual machine on a 4.1 esxi host…

Dns’s are set ok and comm to ad is ok too…

The reason I was asking about Ubuntu and esxi is because we had a bunch of our 10.04 servers start having issues with their virtual cpus getting stuck during certain processes and they were taking an unusually long time to perform certain tasks. Looking at Cpu utililization on the esxi host wasn’t obvious until we actually rebooted the servers and we saw those errors. Are you getting similar errors?

Found another thing. When i log in as a regular users it goes very fast- 2 sec to login to default home screen but when i log in as a administrator it takes 30 secs to show home…
then after that if im on admin accout when i go to felamimail or calendar it generates site in 1 or 2 secs but when i click home it takes about 30 secs to display home site

any thoughts???

we also have other problem- admin while editing a user group (for example adding a module for group of users) after clicking Apply nothing happens I mean browser keeps on loading but nothing happens even when i reload page or enter url to egroupware- it just keeps on loading page! I have to shut the browser andd start again, login to egroupware to see changes or anything else…
same thing while editing user properties - every time wewant to change something we have to shut the browser and login again to see if chnage was aplied!

checked cpu utilization and there are no problems with that…

You won’t see it in cpu utilization. Your CPUs will be pretty much idle
but still stuck. Try rebooting the server and watch for errors similar
to this in the console:

*BUG: soft lockup – CPU#0 stuck for XXXs! [apache:processID]"

checked cpu utilization and there are no problems with that…

Your vm console not your esxi console. Login to your vm console not an
SSH session and reboot your server and watch for those errors as the
server is trying to reboot

I can confirm the problem. Login takes roughly 1-2 minutes for admin,
but is quick for ordinary users. We authenticate against OpenLDAP. The
server is almost idle.
