Dear all, we are a Barcelona based solution provider for multilingual communication: technical translation & interpreting, DTP, terminology management, etc. In 2008, we started to develop our own Translation Management System (TMS) based on EGW. By now, we have a fully fledged TMS system with multiple modules: client management, provider management, price list management, linguistic resource management, invoice management, quality and performance management, quote management, project management. All these modules heavily interact with the Infolog, the calendar, the address book and the Wiki. Additionally, we use the Tracker for bug tracking and RFF management, but also for the tracking of non-conformities and for our vendor management. We have also created a module for the management of our professional training activites and a small time management application.
We are still based on EGW 1.8.001, but I would like to migrate our TMS system and the other applications to the latest community version of EGW (I understand that’s the 16.1) and maybe in a next step to the EPL version.
I understand that one of the main hurdles might be that from EGW 14.1 onwards, EGW started to use a new etemplate version. Another concern that we have is the integration of our mail communication with our TMS application in EGW. We do not use Felamimail because it is simply to limited in its functionality to substitute our default e-mail client, Thunderbird. I don’t know about the mail client in 16.1 though. Is it still FelamiMail and is it still so limited? If that’s the case, is it possible to integrate another email client in EGW?
All that said, what we need is help with the migration. Anybody who has done something similar and could give us some ideas about the main hurdles and pitfalls in the process? And anybody who could help with the migration (the actual coding)?
Thanks and kind regards to you all,
Michael Scholand
