Upgrading 1.8 to 14.1

Its hosted by Siteground on a Linux Server
EGroupware version: 14.1 (only recently updated)
PHP version: 5.3.28: cgi-fcgi

I upgraded 1.8 to 14.1 all seemed ok ( no error messages during upgrade)
at /egrp/setup/check_install.php
I get no errors only warnings about PEAR pear.horde.org and You don’t have tnef or ytnef installed!
I get no errors in the system logs

I can see the sitemgr website and that is ok but if I try to log in to egroupware I get

Fatal error: Class timesheet_export_openoffice contains 1 abstract method and must therefore be declared abstract or implement the remaining methods (importexport_iface_export_plugin::get_mimetype) in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/egrp/timesheet/inc/class.timesheet_export_openoffice.inc.php on line 198

Line 198 is the end of the class.timesheet_export_openoffice.inc.php and there is no get_mimetype function in there.

What other logs can I check?
how do I fix this?

Hi All

For information purposes.

I have added the following lines

/**
 * returns mime type for exported file
 *
 * @return string mimetype
 */
public static function get_mimetype() {
	return 'application/xml';
}

to the timesheet_export_openoffice class in the class.timesheet_export_openoffice.inc.php file.

I am not sure if this is a good idea or correct but I can now access egroupware.
If this is wrong please let me know.

You copied new 14.1 code over old 1.8 one and therefore no longer
existing files got not removed.

For updates allways remove all files before installing new ones, or
better save yourself all that trouble and use rpm/deb packages provided.

Just to note for your information. The original install was done via Softaculous Auto Installer for cPanel.
I have used the Softaculous Auto Installer to upgrade EGroupware before this.
For this reason I used the Softaculous Auto Installer to upgrade Egroupware again.

I was under the impression that the Softaculous script did it all the needed actions correctly for an upgrade.

Would it be better to revert to my backup of 1.8 and then do an upgrade via commandline using the rpm/deb packages to 14.1?

For this reason I used the Softaculous Auto Installer to upgrade Egroupware
again.

I was under the impression that the Softaculous script did it all the needed
actions correctly for an upgrade.
No idea about Softaculous.

You should ask them.

That would give you a recommended and easy updatable EGroupware install.

Thought it does not matter if you use your 1.8 database or the already
upgraded one.

I’m testing migration from 1.8.007 to 14.1 in Debian and I have problem
with diacritics.

I first upgraded packages 1.8.007 to 14.1 with all recommended and
suggested packages. Then imported DB from 1.8.007. After upgrading the
DB in setup and resolving applications, everything seemed OK, until I
logged in to EGW.

The content that comes from outside (e.q. mails from IMAP, names from
domain etc) is allright, the translated UI is OK, only the content from
EGW database has diacritics corrupted.

It dosen’t matter whether I do the DB import with UTF-8 conversion
enabled or disabled. We switched to UTF-8 long ago anyway.

It also dosen’t help to set default_charset = UTF-8 in php.ini
nor enable or disable Add_default_charset UTF8 in apache2/conf.d/charset

Please, does anybody have any idea?

Can you check if you have the following row in egw_config:

SELECT * FROM egw_config WHERE config_name=‘system_charset’;

It should return: ‘phpgwapi’, ‘system_charset’, ‘utf-8’

Hi Peter,

Interesting, after dropping apps, doing full import using Setup, it
still works.
Could the installation of mysql-workbench bring something into system
that resolved this? Or could our newer DB export be superior in some
way? (shouldn’t I think)
