Hi,
I’ve just installed egw. In the past we used an external wiki (mediawiki) but I’ve decided to try the internal wiki this time.

I have it installed, but I’m missing something I tihnk.

I have fckeditor working but I can use wikitext.

For example:

== H2 ==

Comes out as :

== H2 ==

CamelCase smash workds work though.

What am I missing?

Can you put some info out of your.server/egroupware/about.php here,
(I’m talking about the top of Changelog tab)

You did not say which way did you install (tarball? packages? trunk?)

I don’t have an answer for you, but can commiserate. IIRC they use wikitikitavi, so the markup code might be different than you expect? Also, I have found it works best in Firefox; I had lots of problems with Chrome in page editing.

We have been using the project manager module, but have to learn by using, since there is no good documentation - we even bought the hardcopy admin manual. EGW can be a PITA to get started, but I researched a LONG time to try and find groupware that had the features we needed, and only EGW came close, but it does have its rough edges. I am of the impression that EGW was designed by engineers for engineers, and an admin is expected to be a php and mysql guru BEFORE setting up a working site.

You can get any info out of any module, but will have to directly access MySQL, either at mysql console, or use a 3rd party utility such as phpMyadmin

This list has been pretty quiet last few months, probably due to work on the new release.

hi,

wiki formated text passages must not be framed by html tags like p, pre, h1 etc. to be processed, AFAIK.
try to enclose the wiki formated line manually with a div container or/and switch from paragraph to br or div under common pereference -> “text editors settings” -> Rich text editor enter mode (Select how the rich text editor will generate the line break tag)

Hi,
I’m in Australia and don’t really expect immediate responses. my comment wasnt related to my immediate issue, just a general comment.

I was asking about answers because I had looked through the forum and seen the same form of questions unanswered for over 5 years. It seems rare to see an answer to a genuine enquiry that is not a bug. My first action is always to look online for answers. But I simply couldn’t find any.

I’m condiering the EPL version of the product, but that lack of reference material and paucity of howto’s etc is a very real drawback at present.

I just seems that there is a lack of reference material.

Why would the version of PHP affect the operation of the editor in the Wiki? Its a javascript module?

I asked a very generic question. Given I want to use Wiki Text as outlines in the application ‘user manual’, what do I have to do to get it to actually work. It seems that FCKeditor is converting directly to HTML, which is fairly hopeless as far as I am concerned. I want my wiki to act like a Wiki, not simply a set of linked CMS pages.

Do I have to turn off the editor?
If so how?

Also, how do I link to other applications from within the wiki? (If I cant do this, I’ll simply revert to mediawiki as it is too hard to use at present.

I’m not trying to pick fights, I’m trying to make this work so that I can get the people I’m working with to commit to buying the EPL version, but at present the seeming lack of reference resources and reliable information online is not helping me.

Are there better reference material repositories somewhere?

Thanks, it seemed like such a great idea, having the wiki integrated into the project groupware. But I have to confess that I have been underwhelmed by the wiki itself.

The issue is that in the current configuration, FCKeditor takes over, so none of the WikitExt other than CamelCaseSmashWords work. I have looked up the

BTW I have been in IT Development for 30 years, I’ve been working Releational DBMS systems since 1983 (unify) and actually studied SQL as a subject over 3 years in the 80’s. I have been coding in PHP/PEAR etc for about 11 yrs, so I’m in no way daunted by code.

But, having said that I also need to have not so technically literate folk use the environment and I can honestly suggest to the business that they invest in this if we cant easily resolve what are on the surface very simple issues.

Can we easily interlink other EGW apps in a Wiki entry?

BTW, I’ve been using EGW for about 5 years, though last time we only used the document management system in anger and now its changed and doesn’t seem to mange versioning easily any more. or at least I have found ou how to upload a new version that doesn’t simply overwrite the old one). We are not interested in using WebDAV as yet.

I agree though that it is a far better all round environment than most.

If I try to make a anchor as described here:

within a wiki page it does not work.

Any ideas?
