About to rewrite the ldap backend of eGroupWare 1.4

Hello!

We are about to rewrite the ldap backend of eGroupWare 1.4 to make it
working better with big directories(> 1000 accounts).

We hope to have the rewrite finished by the end of the next week.

What exactly happens when hitting that number? I’m currently sitting at
about 600 user accounts. I have not noticed any lack in performance as my
numbers have gone up.

Maybe one limit is the addressbook search, where I hit the memory limit
doing a search (whilst the standard view worked without problems).
This is not a severe problem (just increase the memory and timeout
limits) but maybe could be part of the ongoing optimization.

Hi Lars,

We are about to rewrite the ldap backend of eGroupWare 1.4 to make it
working better with big directories(> 1000 accounts).

You may have a look at patch #201 for dealing with ldap sorting
(espacially in reverse order) and selecting only the needed entries from
result set.

I also did some performance tests last year. Currently most time is
needed to create the result array from ldap_get_values.
