How to use customised icons for categories

Hi All,
we are using EGW only recently and the question might be dumb.
In the Site configuration TAB you can choose which directory of the VFS you want to use as an icon storage for the apps. However, when I try to use them for categories EGW does not find them.
Any suggestions?

Is the specified directory accessible by the users and the icon readable?

I have just tried this out once:
Directory: /templates/icons
icons saved in different formats
and tried to choose from categories.

This does not work for me. But I think it used to work that way.

Icons are in the /api/images/ server directory in an on premise installation. Unfortunately, this directory does not seem to be accessible via VFS and each new release of EGV the directory is overwritten.

I’ll try to summarise the problem:

• in settings you can select a folder containing custom icons that EGW applications can use (e.g. in category definition). The choice is can be made in site “configuration - general - Enter the VFS path where additional images, icons or logos can be placed and found by EGroupware’s applications. The path MUST start with / and be readable by all users”. For instance, "/templates/default/icons" seems like a good option.

• By default, EGW applications use icons (e.g. Idea) which are located in folders in the EGW installation (/api/images/) which does not seem to be accessible via VFS. While it seems logical that a new installation of EGW overwrites its folders and therefore the default icons, it does not seem logical that it overwrites the whole VFS, because what if user information were stored in a project folder?

So to sum up:

1. I hope EGW updates don’t overwrite the information in the VFS;
2. EGW doesn’t seem to take into account the icons loaded into the VFS in the indicated folder as appears evident from your post**.

I’ve added them in. Icons in Site Config -> Additional images will be available as options for category icons in 21.1 release.

I have tried to insert an icon file in the directory you have mentioned.
/templates/default/icons and then set the directory

the icon is as shown in the figure below:

when I try to set it into categories:

computer doesn’t appear. I’m doing something wrong ?

Hi Stefan,
It works!
The only thing to say is that in order to get the icons available you need to do a “Clear cache and register hooks” in administration panel but it works.
