maybe you got confused by the 1.4.003 and 1.4.003-2 packages.
The 1.4.003-2 packages contain a small fix to get php4.3 compatibility.
Of cause the md5sum’s of the two sets of packages are different.
I downloaded the eGroupWare-1.4.003-2.tar.bz2 from sf.net:
md5sum eGroupWare-1.4.003-2.tar.bz2
67ab111d2e6b7f8d97b642d277f3dede eGroupWare-1.4.003-2.tar.bz2
which is identical to the one in md5sum-eGroupWare-1.4.003-2.txt.asc:

An other slight difference is that the tar files have now user/group
root/root (instead of ralf/users) set. That’s why all md5sum’s are
different, thought only the eGroupWare-1.4.003-2.(tar.bz2|tar.gz|zip)
packages are different for the php4.3 stuff.
