RFE: alarms on recurring events

I’d like to request an enhancement to alarms on recurring events such that alarms can be added to recurring events that start in the past.

There are plenty of times when I edit a recurring event some time after it’s first occurrence and in particular would like to add an alarm. The response is “cannot add alarms in the past” which is fair enough but could it not determine when the NEXT occurrence is and set a recurring alarm from then on?

I also have a problem with eGW removing existing alarms on events I edit (after their first occurrence). I presume the current logic of “cannot add alarms in the past” applies but eGW silently deletes them although not under all circumstances.

either open a bug report (if there’s none already) or consider
sponsoring that little bugfix. Just mailing to the list, tends to get
forgotten.

Looks like I forgot to submit the patches. Oops! Also looks like part of the
recurring_alarms.patch got included in rfc_alarms.patch. They only fix SyncML
and IcalSrv, but not the Web client. I have another patch for that, and I’ll
add it before I submit the patches.

Looks like I forgot to submit the patches. Oops! Also looks like part of
the recurring_alarms.patch got included in rfc_alarms.patch. They only fix
SyncML and IcalSrv, but not the Web client. I have another patch for that,
and I’ll add it before I submit the patches.

Should work against 1.4.002.

If I remember correctly, this fixes the issue of silently deleting alarms, but
you still can’t add them in the past from the Web (but you can from an iCalSrv
or SyncML client). That is, you’ll have to add an alarm on the next
recurrence of an event (which will then get scheduled for all subsequent
events, I believe).

If you’re really needing the ability to add an alarm to a past recurrence, it
wouldn’t be too difficult to add this support as well. If you’re interested
in doing this, class.uiforms.inc.php would be the place to add this.
Otherwise, I’d be happy to do it when I have time. I don’t have commit
access, so no guarantee that any of this will ever get officially added.

OK I found and applied the first one last night to 1.4.002. Basic tests were positive.
Found and applied 2nd patch to 1.4.003. Applied fine, basic tests were positive.

A fix for silently deleting alarms is good! The one test I did works for me.
Adding alarms to the next recurrence is what I’m after. I can’t imagine why you would need to add an alarm for a recurrence in the past.
