Site manager - url alias

I see that on the egroupware website that the site manager urls are aliased.

Such as http://www.egroupware.org/community

How is this done?

Hi Randy,

you need to do two things:

a) rename the htaccess file in sitemgr-site to .htaccess to enable the
rewrite in apache

b) switch the internal creation of the short links on in sitemgr’s
config.inc.php file (in sitemgr-site)

i am still having problems with this. The rewrite module is installed in apache. Is there another var i am missing to enable it?

Rewrite is turned on in the default .htaccess file. The config file is set up as well. In sitemrg the links are correct. domain.com/pagename however apache is not catching that url and directing it to the right location.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

My problem was AllowOverride. I was changing the wrong one. Sitemgr-site works great in my root.

http://216.221.93.55/

But my egw install does not. The server cannot find my install and throughs a 500 error.

When I change the AllowOverride back from FileInfo to None then the url alias does not work and the egw install is back to normal.

Any help would be great.
