"Unknown Type" appears in place of "Last Name" in Addressbook

Ralf, all,

I apologize if this has already been reported. I searched, but didn't find it.

There is a bug that is affecting the addressbook header in 1.4 svn. I don’t
know exactly when it appeared, but it has been present for several weeks now. I
have confirmed the behavior on 2 independent egw installs.

The problem is that instead of having "Last Name" appear in the addressbook

header, “Unknown Type” is shown. I have a screenshot at:

How do I fix this? Also, let me know if you want me to file a bug report of if

Downgrade your php to 5.2.5.x
I had the same issue with 5.2.6.x

Before I downgrade to php 5.2.5, do you have plans to support 5.2.6 soon? The

only issue I can see is the “unknown type” in the various application table
headers. Everything else seems OK. If you plan to support 5.2.6 soon, I’ll just
wait and be a guinea pig for the 5.2.6 support. Let me know. The only reason I
ask is that I have probably 50+ php packages spread out over two independent
egw installs and downgrading will take some time.

I’ve seen the reports, but I dont have a php5.2.6 installation.

Is it already available in any standard distribution?

None of the distros I use regularly offers php5.2.6.

My current development box uses openSUSE 10.3 with php 5.2.4 and the
upcomming openSUSE 11.0 (2 weeks from now) seems to have only 5.2.5.

I dont think it’s much, but I dont have time to compile 5.2.6 myself.
That makes it hard to support 5.2.6 …

Hi Ralf,

openSuSE 10.3 has 5.2.6 as an update from the BuildService repositories.

Standard openSuSE 10.3 is still 5.2.5. openSuSE 11 will be out in a few weeks,
I’ll have to check to see what its default is.

On the same note, I downgraded both egw installs to 5.2.5 and both problems

“unknown Type” and “server timeout” went away. Seems like 5.2.6 will offer a
few new challenges.

I got now a php5.2.6 for my openSUSE 10.3 and fixed the “Unknown Type
’’” problem (for trunk and 1.4).

I can not reproduce that other problem your reported with the number of
entries to show selectbox.

now I can also reproduce the nextmatch problem
It only happens, if the app uses the second nextmatch row at the bottom
of the list. This is now disabled for php5.2.6+, until I find time to
fix it.

The bomb just dropped. openSuSE 10.3 just came out with a security update that

moved openSuSE to php-5.2.6 and the problems reappeared. Is there anything I
can send or any additional test I can run to help? As always, keep up the

All my development systems are now on php5.2.6 and the problem is mostly
fixed in svn (for 1.4 and trunk).

That’s what I get for the week of “family vacation” at the splash parts in
Dallas with the kids. Good to know I’m only two weeks behind!

Great news Ralf!

I went ahead and opened a bug with openSuSE and gave you a good plug as well

as provided your contact info. See:

Let me also compliment "how damn quick you got that fixed!" I updated to

revision 25725 for 1.4 and after restarting the session, it looks great. I
think I saw in an earlier post that you had disabled the bottom_too capability
in addressbook/inc/class.uicontacts.inc.php. I can confirm it is as well. I
have “‘bottom_too’ => true,” and I can’t trick it into displaying.

I'll update the openSuSE bug and let them know that a majority of 5.2.6

problems are already fixed in svn. I know thew will want to do something to get
the openSuSE package updated since it is included as part of the distribution.
(another fine testament to your brainchild).

I'll keep poking around an let you know if I find any other loose nuts or

bolts under the hood, … uh … or “bonnet”. Whatever you call it over there

Just a note, this isn’t just a openSuSE problem, Debian did it too.
Ralf, your changes corrected it.
I also noticed that some floating point comparisons ($x + $y > $z)
caused issues for pERP, since rewritten to work around it.

 5.2.6 looks like it still has several timing issues left to be resolved. I

have noticed a large number of timeouts on the new version. Especially
accessing egw via https. I’ll try and narrow it down, but the timeouts are
occurring accessing simple things like “preferences” and “admin” tools. I
haven’t had time to look at the logs yet. Just wanted to give you a heads up
and see if you are seeing any timeout issues.
