Using LDAP / AD Addressbook

Hi,
We are trying to setup egroupware with a AD backend, and not have our Address book / contact list in SQL. however the only option i see is that it is SQL or if we are using LDAP backend to use LDAP. Essentially we want to use an OU in our AD as a Contacts OU, which is referenced by Egroupware, and other services.

Is what Im trying to do possible? if so… How do I go about doing this?

That’s currently not supported and due to the limited fields available in AD, eg. no private address, not very practical.

It can be implemented with relative little effort, as we just lack the ability to enable it.

So would my best bet be to use ldap back end, and use an ldap repo for contacts as well? And use my ad server as my ldap server?
We are using a Samba AD, if that makes any difference.
