VFS - Viryual Link of Directory?

Hello Ralf,

Is it possible to do a ln or a virtual link of a directory in the VFS? Obviously not through the UI but through the wrapper api? So that it would show up in the filemanager and in a webdev client?

_call_on_backend (“ln”, array($dir_name, $new_dir_name, “-s”))

Would this work? If yes, what about filesystems that do not support the ln function such as windows? Can you see any other problems with this?

Hi Randy,

I have the concept (2 pages) here, how to implement symlinks. It’s part
of that sponsoring call and will be needed by the application stream
wrappers …

sqlfs will change again (for other reasons) in the next weeks, so
symlinks in the filesystem can not work. Problem with sqlfs at the
moment is, that we cant do something like a filesystem check …

I saw symlinks in the call outline. i did not know what symlinks were when I read it. Thank You and sorry to waste your time.

The appfile manager is coming along. I may create a fake symlink using the ui for now. I only need another night or two to finish it up.
