What I said about mixing Trunk calendar and 1.6 is also true for 1.8.
Install the whole 1.8 and update!

Hi, Ralf,
Probably I did it wrong, because it didn’t work. I downloaded egrouware
1.8 to my pc and then uploaded the calendar directory to the server
(first backed up the old one). It gives me a blank screen and the error
log shows:
PHP Fatal error: Class ‘egw_time’ not found in
/usr/share/egroupware/calendar/inc/class.calendar_bo.inc.php on line
198, referer: https://our.domain.here/home/index.php etc.
On the other hand, restoring the backup I discovered it also generates
an error on the log:
File does not exist: /usr/share/egroupware/", referer:
https://our.domain.here/index.php?menuaction=calendar.calendar_uiviews.index&sessionid
https://our.domain.here/index.php?menuaction=calendar.calendar_uiviews.index&sessionid
etc.

You can NOT mix your old 1.6 install, with calendar from Trunk / 1.9!
Most easy would be to update to new 1.8 release. It also contains
timezone handling, which probably fixes that problem. Update from 1.6
should be easy.
