Error Log not working

I’m trying to iron out a few issues in a new install.
Logged in as the administrative user in the admin menu when I select
View Error Log, I get a completely blank screen.
Is there any other ware to access the error log?
Can anyone give me any pointers on how to fix the problem with the error
log?

Looking in the apache2 error log I see php errors;

No errors in the error log. It that what this is supposed to show?

From your php.ini. unknown line 0 is the PHP configuration.

I traced this down, this module is loaded twice in different places, I
left it because I didn’t know the reason and thought some other
application might need it.
