Protocol error

I have just updated via SVN and am now getting the following error in FelaMiMail.

2803,/home2/xxxxxx/public_html/egroupware/egw-pear/Net/IMAPProtocol.php,PROTOCOL ERROR!:must be a ’ ’ but is a ‘)’ !!!

I am also getting two error dialogue boxes popping up as follows:

I believe, this bug was introduced with revision r23176 or r23177.
Downgrade or use autohiding sidebox until this is fixed.

Hi DJ,

I believe the problem is you updated, but did not log out of eGW. The
objects cached in the session are the old ones, lacking the new stuff.
Try calling login.php manually.

I have just deleted the original install and checked out a fresh install. This time, I have everything installed without any dependences issues, however, I am getting this error message instead:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getIncomingServer() on a non-object in /home2/xxxxxx/public_html/egroupware/felamimail/inc/class.bofelamimail.inc.php on line 67

I have tried the patch mentioned earlier as well for good measure without success. This too is a Courier IMAP server.

This patch is already inside the cvs of pear (what would be my part). I
don’t know why Lars did leave that part from the pear code but I’m sure
he will commit that to eGW’s SVN soon.

Sorry! I tried the patch just to see if that would have any effect but it didn’t correct the problem. I reinstalled a fesh copy from SVN and this time I was getting:

In setup, I changed from MAIL authentication to SQL, saved the config. I then changed back to MAIL authentication and somehow it has nearly worked!

I now get the message: “can’t connect to INBOX!!” on the home page. However, when I go to FelaMiMail I CAN see and read all the messages! When I click on any of the folders nothing is loaded although it seems like it is trying to.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘=’, expecting ‘)’ in /home2/xxxxxx/public_html/egroupware/emailadmin/inc/class.defaultimap.inc.php on line 257

I’ve also just noticed that “check installation” shows:

Checking PEAR::Auth_SASL is installed: False
PEAR::Auth_SASL is needed by: EMailAdmin, FeLaMiMail. You can install it by running: pear install Auth_SASL

However, “pear list” shows that Auth_SASL is installed:

Hi,

someone else reported that. His problem was 2 pear installs, one used by
the cli (command line interface) you used to list and the other was used
by apache. You can check if Admin >> phpinfo (inside eGW) contains the
correct pear path in include_path, as reported by pear config-show (PEAR
directory). Also interesting is System config file, if that’s only for
cli, as eg. in SuSE, check_install will report no packages.

You can also add some debug-code to setup/check_install.php after line
285 and send me the output:

$pear_packages = get_installed_pear_packages();
_debug_array($pear_packages);

Hi Bobe,

I have no idea about IMAP protocol errors, I just fixed the php parse /
syntax error in defaultimap.

I know Sebastian send a patch to this list yesterday, maybe that helps -
I dont know.

Otherwise you need to wait for Lars or maybe Sebastian to suggest a fix.

Looks like pear list uses a different pear install/directory then eGW.
That’s something you need to configure, eGW uses what you configure.

You can try to find the different pear-installs with locate, eg.:
locate PEAR.php
locate SASL.php

if you want to use /usr/local/lib/php you need to specify that as
include_path in your php.ini, eg.
include_path = “.:/usr/local/lib/php”

That will allow eGW to use the pear install in /usr/local/lib/php,
instead of the default /usr/lib/php.

The question is why do you want a second pear install on that host, why
not just upgrade the default one? Two installs are always “crying for
trouble”

Bingo! The two installations of PEAR was the issue. I passed on the information to my web host who is investigating. However, as an interim solution, they have upgraded both PEAR installations to match each other. This has allowed eGW to see all required modules. I have also just updated via SVN again and FelaMiMail now works correctly!

I do have an error message in “Manage Emailaccounts” but I’ll start a new thread for that as I’m not sure it is related.

As an aside though, since updating to the developer’s version of eGW a while ago I can no longer see at a glance the number of read/unread/total messages in INBOX. Any quick ideas as to maybe a setting I have not set for this to happen?
