SMTP - encrypted

Hello,

are there any plans to have also encrypted connection for SMTP with
the email function?

Would be a nice feature if you have the SMTP server on an other server
than your eGroupware installation.

this is implemented in EGroupware. You can use the server and the SSL Port.
This works fine.

hmm - I don’t see it, sorry.

In the IMAP configuration I see the field to set the port and the
radio button for different possibilities of encryption.

But in the SMTP setup I see only the field for the port information.

yes you are right, the Buttons are missing, but it is magic, it works
without the buttons

Try it with the right ports and it will work.

Hello Stefan,

on my server it seems not to work.

In Thunderbird I have for this account under SMTP port 587 with
STARTTLS.

When I set port 587 in email configuration the email is not sent and I
get an error window telling me that the email could be sent.

Error: Could not send message. Trying to recover from session data

Is there any possibility to see a log to see the “dialog” between
eGroupware and the server to find the problem?

I can get port 25 to work using tls://smtpIP but 587 doesn’t but it works on other email scripts. I’d prefer to use 587… any ideas? if it helps I also have to use the smtp IP address instead of the server name if this goes hand in hand.
