Hi,

We are using eGroupware 17.1.0003 (community edition). Some time ago I wrote a script that produces ICAL data from an Excel document used by our administration for scheduling exams. This ICAL is then to be imported in a eGW calendar. Script + import used to work in our previous installation
but, to my distress, the exact same import now delete lots of existing items
(I’d say “almost” all of them) in the calendar instead of adding them.

I checked using a test account. Manually adding a few appointments, then performing the import results in deletion alf all manually inserted appointments.

Am I missing something (an option to be checked/unchecked before importing, a setting, …) or is this the standard behaviour? And in that case, is there a way around it? Scripting seems like the obvious way to avoid someone having to manually enter lots of appointments …

Thanks in advance,

Peter (m4thm4n)

Hi Peter,

please tell us your EGw-Version:

Have you done an update/upgrade? From which to which version?

In the import definition there is the possibility to delete appointments in the target:
grafik

You should check your import filter. And it’s probably better to define your own for that one purpose.

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the quick reply.

The version was mentioned in the first line, I think. It is 17.1.003.
We upgraded last year from, if memory serves, an antique 1.8 that imported ICAL perfectly. Since installing the newer eGW server, no updates have been performed.

Thanks for the tip, that did it! I was indeed missing something. Turns out you have to define a new import setting and change the default deletion period from 100 days past 365 days future setting to, I hope, 0 days both ways? Am I right? Or does that still delete today’s entries?

Thanks for a great job!

Hi Peter,

Not the version of the EGw-API. This is what is meant (as described in the above article, or in the left buttom corner):

Please Update!! See:

I’m afraid I can’t tell you for sure. Please try it out in a test system. You should do that anyway with import/export topics.
