Addressbook empty

Hello,

I am having a problem with my egroupware addressbook lately. For every new user I create, the addressbook page is empty. Everything else works fine.
The user has the rights to see group addressbooks etc like any other user, but nothing is showing, not even the account entries. If the user adds a new entry, the entry exists, other people can see it, but the new users adressbook is still empty.
In the groupdav under
http://[…]/egroupware/groupdav.php/[group]/addressbook/
the entries are visible, so I don’t think it is an ACL problem.
I am running EGW 1.8001

Can anybody help?

If you’re running EGW in Ubuntu with PHP 5.3.2, double check if your ‘re
receiving fatal errors on PHP. You can see this lookin’ in the Apache2 error
file (/var/log/apache2/error_log). If this is the case, you’ll have to
upgrade to PHP 5.3.3 or newer.

Those warnings are not related to your issues. This is due to a change in PHP and how it handles arrays.
This was fixed in the 1.9 branch.

Hello elara,
we’ve had the same problem maybe one year ago. The solution for us was to switch the addressbooktype to “all” on the upper right side. After that, every user had access to all addressbook entries.

Hi Stefan,
you are right, with the “alphabet view”, there are no entries in the addressbook at all, even for the old users. I never noticed it before, since everyone here uses the “all view”. But sadly, this trick works only for the old users. The new ones have an empty addressbook either way.

Hi.

Sorry, the warnings have been fixed in 1.9.
1.9 is bleeding edge. It’s much better than 1.8 in many ways. However, it’s work in progress with sometimes rather big
changes and hence big bugs. It may break your setup completely or work fine. I know enough PHP to make it work if
it breaks and submitting bugs and solutions if I find any.

If it would be stable, they would have released it, but they have not.

So in short: To test it yes, for production NO!

Back to subject: Can your new users see no contacts at all, even not contacts that are no accounts? Or do you have
accounts only in the system?
Presumably you have checked all ACL’s? And they are members of the same group as you old users?

Hi Elara,

I strictly recommend to NOT use 1.9 as this is our trunk or
development-version and there will be huge changes in the next weeks
month coming with etemplate2 which makes absolutly no sence to run that
in any production-environment.

But why not using our EPL-Version? For sure its not for free available
but it offeres so much more features than the actual community-release …

You can simply create a trial and test it - its available in hosting or
also for own installations. The pricing is mentioned on the homepage
www.egroupware.org

Hi Ingo,
new users see no contacts at all, neither contacts in the personal addressbook, nor in the group addressbook nor the account contacts. The can add contacts without problem, but they don’t show up in the addressbook (they show for other users though). The users have at least read access to all of those addressbooks. I also compared the acls in the database with those of other users and everything is the same. On the groupdav page, there are numerous vcf files, so the access rights are alright.
I think it’s some problem with the addressbook page itself. It reminds me of a problem I had some time ago with the calendar in an earlier egw version. Maybe it displays the addressbook for some other (inactive?) user? Are there some GET/POST options I could try?

Thank you very much, Christophe.

The empty addressbook type was the reason. I, too, was not able to add a new default contact type. Luckily I was able to have a peek into the tables of another egw installation, so I solved the problem by changing it in the database. Basically, this means deleting the entries in ‘egw_config’ for the app 'addressbook’
Afterwards I had to add another addressbook type in order to make the selectbox appear, then I could select contact for the new user and delete the additional addressbook type again.
