Error - please help!

Hi,

I’m getting the following error on every page I go to as an admin in EGW 1.4:

Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for /tmp/magicVBIAPN in /home/.beau/chcworship/chcworship.com/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/class.sessions_php4.inc.php on line 226

Can someone please tell me how to fix this?! It was working fine for a few weeks then suddenly this error started appearing…

PHP is version 5.3 I believe. How do I find out the other info - apache and linux? I’m not an administrator of the server - just a user - is there a Unix command I can enter to have it tell me this info?

Okay - I found the following under “PHP Info” within EGW 1.4:

Can you run the phpinfo() command just to make sure php is running with apache. Also the error message points to a temporary file, have you tried removing the file from the temporary folder, and see if it gives you any other messages. Also check to see if you have access to the /tmp folder?

Can you run the phpinfo() command just to make sure php is running with apache. Also the error message points to a temporary file, have you tried removing the file from the temporary folder, and see if it gives you any other messages. Also check to see if you have access to the /tmp folder?

I’m trying to find the /tmp directory but don’t know which one it’s referring to… I looked in Setup and found it just had /tmp and not a full path so I created a /tmp directory where I have the “files” and “backup” directories and pointed Setup to there. Hi - I am still getting this crazy error and it’s getting worse! Each page I load shows more and more of these errors at the top, making it very difficult to enjoy using the program… I cannot even find the directory it is saying is giving the problem - the /tmp/magic… that it is referring to. I wanted to go in and look for those files but I can’t even find them! Can someone let me know where they are and how do I fix this problem so this many errors don’t keep showing up on every page? I’m copying and pasting exactly what’s at the top of each page now:

Hi, Everyone…

I’m so sorry to keep bugging you all with this, but I have no clue how to fix it and have gotten no responses… These warning errors are showing up more and more and more - and now are even preventing me from doing things - such as it times out before it can complete an action and it’s just because of all these errors showing up - one time it was 30 seconds worth of errors and it never got to my action I had requested. I have no idea what these errors mean, what is triggering them, or how to get rid of them! Can someone please, please help!!

Hi,

one simple solution, switch off showing the current users in your
general prefs.

Other solution is to change the rights of your session dir, to allow
stating the files. It’s forbidden for security reasons in some distros
(eg. debian/ubuntu).

You can also modify the code and let me know if it helped, I will then
commit it to the general distribution:
phpgwapi/inc/class.sessions_php4.inc.php at line 212 from:

if (!$dir) // eg. openbasedir restrictions

to:

if (!$dir || !@file_exists($path.’/.’)) // eg. openbasedir restrictions

THANK you, soooo much!! I first tried changing the code as you suggested - this did not stop the error. So I switch off the “Show Current Users” and that stopped it. This is fine for now, but I would like to help you find out how to stop the problem completely - I have no problem going in and changing code if you just tell me what to change and where, then I’ll let you know if it works or not…

Though not critical, I do like having the current number of users being shown, so it would be great to get this resolved…

Does this tell you what you’re asking about? I’m trying to find the
/tmp directory but don’t know which one it’s referring to… I looked in
Setup and found it just had /tmp and not a full path so I created a /tmp
directory where I have the “files” and “backup” directories and pointed
Setup to there. It still is giving the error though…

I doubt that, as the error suggests the webserver has no full access to
the sessions dir (for security reasons).

What distro are you using?

Yes - before you had me turn off that feature in the General Preferences, I would see the number of current users at the top of each page. I could then click on that link and it would show me how long each person was logged in and what page they were viewing, etc.

I am using: eGroupWare Version 1.4.002

If everything was working before and you only want to get rid of the
warnings, you can place an @ in front of the filesize() command in line 226.

I’m still interested in the real cause of the problem, can you run the
following for me:

ls -dl /tmp
ls -l /tmp/magic*

Btw. you did not answer my question about what distro you use.

Does this tell you what you’re asking about? I’m trying to find

/tmp directory but don’t know which one it’s referring to… I
looked
in
Setup and found it just had /tmp and not a full path so I created a
/tmp
directory where I have the “files” and “backup” directories and
pointed
Setup to there. It still is giving the error though…

Oh, I’m sorry - I thought you were asking what distribution of EGW I was using. What is a “distro” and how do I find out what I’m using?

I did the ls -dl /tmp from the main prompt (before going into any directories) and got the following:

If everything was working before and you only want to get rid of the
warnings, you can place an @ in front of the filesize() command in line 226.

I’m still interested in the real cause of the problem, can you run the
following for me:

ls -dl /tmp
ls -l /tmp/magic*

Btw. you did not answer my question about what distro you use.

Other solution is to change the rights of your session dir, to allow
stating the files. It’s forbidden for security reasons in some distros
(eg. debian/ubuntu).

You can also modify the code and let me know if it helped, I will then

only think I can see in your listing is these symlinked temp files
imagemagick is producing in /tmp.

I had no time to fix that, but I also think it’s no common and therefore
urgent problem for eGroupWare.

I tried putting an “@” in front of the “If” statement at line 226 and got the following error when trying to access a page:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/.beau/chcworship/chcworship.com/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/class.sessions_php4.inc.php on line 226

Is there a certain syntax to put the @? I put it right next to the if: @If Then tried a space: @ If - but neither worked.
