Thank you so incredibly much! I have already wasted so much time getting stuff to work on my server and just don’t have time for silly crap like this. So you really saved me a bundle!
I have ubuntu and this solved the same problem for me.
The conf file is indeed created by the script for installing it.
I installed the package from the stable dapper dan release, and it was super old, so I upgraded egroupware. For whatever, reason, any time I try and remove php4 it thinks it should remove egroupware completely. So I have this stale php4 junk in my server. I might at some point just try and remove it and then reinstall egroupware from the tar as you did Jan.
The reason I mention this is that the egroupware website says SyncML won’t work with php4 and says if you have it installed as a mod that you have to run php5 as a cgi. Well, I don’t have php4 installed as a mod in my webserver, but in either case, I never got past the installation page saying pear wasn’t there before.
now I have gotten past! thanks!
The pear package and syncml actually enables you to sync the calendar, tasks, and contacts with outlook, which is what I need, and on top of that, pdas and phones (or supposedly, we’ll see, I won’t spend more than a couple days on that. The functionality shiouldn’t be reported if its not tested on a fresh install and new users have to figure things out that we should really not have to…)

Oh dear, guys,
I wish somebody else (more knowlegable on php egw) had solved this stupid
thing. It cost me some frustration!! Well I am new to php and apache2 so I
guess things like this are the price to pay
Oke, the solution to your “PEAR not included matter” is very simple:
the setting of the include_path in the php.ini file (in debian
/etc/php4/php.ini or something like that) is OVERRULED by the settings in
the egroupware Directory directives (at least if you using e.g.
libapache2-mod-php4 or something like that… I guess …)
Thus the value of the include_path from the file that was distributed with
egw e.g. /etc/apache2/conf.d/egrouware.conf (or whatever you called it)
as set like:
Quote:
…
…
php_value memory_limit 24M
php_value session.gc_maxlifetime 1440
php_value session.save_path /var/lib/egroupware/sessions
php_value include_path .
php_value open_basedir
/opt/share/egroupware:/var/lib/egroupware:/tmp
php_value upload_max_filesize 6M
change the one line into:
Quote:
php_value include_path .:/usr/share/php
and voila it will work. If you have you PEAR stuff indeed there.
success
Jan
