Problems when upgrading from 1.4 to 1.6.rc1

Hi to all.

More Information.

Felamimail works withouth ssl changed in setup the IMAPS with IMAP and in emailadmin the port from 993 to 143 and with no encryption and is working. Going to test again with the different ssl options and comment the results.

Felamimail still don’t connect to my IMAP server (standards SLES 10

That’s surely not related to mysqli

It’s an unusual place for that warning, as it means the server answered
something to the capabilities command the IMAP class did not understand.
I dont think that code changed from 1.4 to 1.6. It must be something else.

Tracker seems to work fine, but I’m unable to open any attached files. I
canb see them under egfiles/infolog/tracker each attachment under his case

This means your update 1.5.005 failed. You need to revert to your backup
(DB AND files!) and try again. You need find the cause why the update
failed (eg. switch on extra debug messages).
The 1.5.005 update would rename /infolog/tracker to /apps/tracker. After
a successful update you only have /home and /apps left.

number. All are pdf, but Acrobat says it is unable to open them. Also if
select to save it instead of open it, it is saved with 0 kb

Looking the logs I see something about webdav. I was not using anything
related to webdav in our 1.4 installation. Any site to look how to properly
setup the webdav?

Here is my procedure for this “upgrade”.

downloaded the rpms for the new 1.6rc from sourceforge (today) (plus egw_pear, plus mydms, plus icalsrv)

decompressed in a new folder /srv/htdocs/egroupware_1.6

copied my header.inc.php from my previous installation.

copied my /srv/www/egfiles to /srv/www/egfiles16

backed up my egroupware database directly with mysql and restored as a new egroupware16 database

Entered to the egroupware 1.6 setup to the header admin setup

changed to work in the new server path and with the new database

then saved and enter the setup to the configuration setup.

Choosed to upgrade my installation to the 1.6 version.

No warnings was sent.

Then checked my applications, deleted my unused applications (chatty, notifywindow, etc)

all seemed fine.

later changed the setup header admin database from mysqli to mysql as you suggested, and changed the Imap configuration from IMAPS to IMAP to get Felamimail working.

Could be this problem related to have the database to point to the old egfiles (our production egfiles) during the upgrade?

I have looked under the egfiles and no apps folder exists, also we where using sqlfs and seems its still there

I want to test the 1.6 with my real data prior to change my production installation.

What i had to change for this procedure to work?

could I simply move the egfiles16/infolog/tracker to /egfiles16/apps/tracker?

Sure, this can NOT work.

You have to change the location first (eg. direct in the database or via
setup under 1.4 before taking the backup). More easy is to keep the
locations and make the backup to a different location.

Nope, the upgrade does more than that. Of cause you can forget about all
the attachments and files and start with a clean egw_sqlfs database and
an empty /sqlfs directory in your files_dir, if you dont need the files.

here is one sample.

It seems that the upgrade process is not handling fine the sqlfs database

Hi,

As you already noticed changing from mysqli -> mysql did the trick.

Shortly after sending the original mail I restored the database to the state where it was before upgrade and applied the update again. I had the same results than in the first attempt.

Another restore and then I tried the upgrade with mysql instead of mysqli. It worked like charm.

I though I was alone with this problem and there is no need to reply to own mail.

This will repeat everytime I try to access the user login screen
(/egroupware). Can this be fixed easily or should I rollback to old

note the comment from someone else on the list, that his update worked,

Hi Ralph.

Reading this I finally detected that the first upgrade i tried, (the one in what i had not changed the egfiles location in the database backup), messed up my production egfiles folder, so now in my poroduction installation I’m unable to access the attachements of the tracker

That’s was also the cause of the subsequents tries to fail.

I’m going to restore my backup, and after verifying my production system running fine, I’m going to retest again with all the new knowledge.

btw, this wiki clears much the picture, you should put links to these kind of documents in the 1.6 version news to help people to prepare their upgrades.

Perhaps also a upgrade wiki with an in place upgrade or a parallel upgrade like mine could help

the files (in a hashed structure depending on the id of the file), but
not anymore the directories.

configuration, I suggest to buy a support ticket and I’m sure Klaus is
able to help you quickly.

I think this is not a mail server problem, as these messages could be read
from the 1.4 version, and from thunderbird, but not from the 1.6 version. I
think it’s a problem related to the HTML of the mail. This is easy to test,
sharing a mail server between two installations, one with 1.4 and other with
1.6rc2

Also the error is related to the php trying to allocate a lot of memory
(unnecessary for this small message)
