TTS insert dropdown TEXT value in SQL string

I have modified my mysql database to include an additional field in the
phpgw_tts_tickets where I would like to insert the value of the categories
drop down list but I need help understanding how to gleen the text value of
the selected option in the TTS New ticket.I can see that you can obtain the
numeric value of the selected option but I want the actual text string that
is shown on the new ticket screen to be inserted into this new field I have
created. Any help would be great! I am doing this because we have the
categories drop down filled with the names of our customers. When you use
the search option in the Trouble Ticket system by default you can only
search by subject or details of a particular ticket.

I would like to search by customer. Currently you can only search by
customer if you change the query to look at the ticket_category field. From
there you can use the numeric value associated with that customer. We want
to do this so we can see all the activity for a particular customer without
writing an entire stand alone application to view this data. As an
administrator I can do this at the server with the mysql software but for
others in my office I would like to set this up and follow the KISS (Keep it
simple stupid) standard and not have to train people uninterested to learn
how to do SQL queries.

Thanks

Hi,

two possible solutions:

a) the search query joins with the categories table to search the
cat-name too (prefered)

b) you use a hidden var and insert the cat-name via javascript and the
onchange events into that hidden var

Hi,

IMHO the main problem is, that TTS has too less additional properties and
the filter and search possibilities are not enough atm. At least the
customer/contact and the asset are missing. Using the category is somehow
a misuse of the existing fields.

thats correct and I’m sure some development will happen with the TTS in
the next month after the release.
