Hi Msyslav,

my guess: the problem are from not starting with a clean database (left over tables from previous upgrade tries), eg. by using mysql(dump) instead of EGroupware db_backup, which takes care of such things.

Empty screen could be not invalidated cache or existing EGroupware session from before the update.

1.8 updates is something we do every week, due to migrating customers to our hosting or with our update packages:

So, I explain my problem

1. I restored the backup on the new server egroupware (1.8-> 17.1)
2. I moved to new server user mailboxes
3. I make a login with the name of an some existing user
4. the system authorizes me
5. I turn to the mail tab
6. The system suggests (running the “wizard”) make mail settings for this user (existing in version 1.8.), Namely password, imap server, smtp server, mail folders, etc. (I attach screenshots, noted by arrows)
7. after passing through these settings, all his mail is available to the user

I have a question - how do I eliminate the need to comply with paragraph 6,7?
there are approximately 2000 users on my system, I don’t want to configure everyone (I don’t even know user passwords)

That is simple, authenticate with the same source as your IMAP and SMTP server and create one mail account for all users.

All users who should have access to the mail app, need run rights for it.
The is normally done by putting them all in the Default group, which has run rights for all applications.
Of cause you can use what ever group you want and assign it run-rights for the applications it’s members require.

have questions about working with egroupware

1. Users are unable to send a file larger than 1MB by mail (there is no such limitation in the postfix, using a mail client Outlook/Thunderbird, you can send a larger file). Where to set this parameter?

2. Where and how to create mail aliases (group addresses) in the egroupware system? Earlier in version 1.8, the administrator created a record in the “virtual_aliases” table through phpmyadmin. After upgrading the system to version 17, this does not work. Please help with this.
   I think it should be configured through the egroupware system interface?

1. are we talking now 17 or 14?
   17 uploads in chunks, so there is no limitation here and streams to the MTA, so there is also no limitation, apart from what might be configured in Postfix.
   Apache error.log should contain an error, if eg. PHP runs out of memory or reaches to configure max_upload_size or post_max_size in earlier versions (you should no longer use!).

2. it is possible, if EGroupware manages the mail-system, but that requires additional configuration (mail account for all users which is NOT “Standard SMTP”).

1. In the postfix settings, restrictions on the size of the letter are large (50MB)
   in php.ini restrictions (max_upload_size or post_max_size) are also set to 16MB and 25MB (apache restarted). And what is the recommendation for setting up memory (memory_limit) for the groupware system (1500-2000 users)?

Looks like you have no minified javascript, that’s only a little performance problem.
Our install instructions for git explain what you have to do to generate minified javascript.

I get this kind of message when the network link was interrupted, after my computer went in suspend or hibernate mode.

Pressing F5 usually solves the problem.
