Upgrade failed. Egroupware is not working

I’m running the Community Edition on Ubuntu 16.04 when I log in to Egroupware the login times out no error messages.

Yesterday I ran an upgrade on my Egroupware server and Egroupware stopped working. The latest Egroupware was updated. The problem may be either Egroupware or Apache2 but I can’t figure it out.

Here are the most relevant error messages form the Apache2 logs.

Hi rsteinmetz70112,

A (package-)update from which version to which version?

For me this looks more like an apache problem at first. Are there other websites/applications running on the apache?

I update from the SUSE repositories so the new one is the latest version. I’m not sure the previous version it would have been a couple of months ago. From the logs it look like I upgraded egroupware-epl from 16.1.20171106 to 17.1.20171115

There are no other websites running except for the Apache2 basic web page to show it’s working. and that page does work.

I access egroupware at egroupware.steinmetznet.com/egroupware that will timeout with no error message.
If I go to egroupware.steinmetznet.com I can see the directories but cannot change into the egroupware directiory to see the contents.

I am getting this egroupware error:

error.log:[Mon Dec 11 10:54:38.168337 2017] [:error] [pid 15497] [client 192.168.1.68:2923] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 90 seconds exceeded in /usr/share/egroupware/api/src/Framework/IncludeMgr.php on line 89

This seem to be a php problem, but I’m having trouble figuring out where.

After more investigation I found if I enter
http://egroupware.steinmetznet.com/egroupware/setup/

The setup page comes up but I cannot login. Perhaps something in the setup is preventing the login.

Also if I substitute a simple index.html for the index.php the index comes up just fine.

Does mysql need to be updated?

OK I’ve been through it and I don’t see anything.

Looks like I have the recommended versions of php and mysql.

Hi Robert,

if you can see Setup, that Apache configuration must be loaded.

Setup uses it’s own password, which is stored as hash in /var/lib/egroupware/header.inc.php. You can replace it there with some cleartext password:

If you can’t get it working, there’s always our (payed) support. Just by some support budget and we have a look. It cant be much.

It now appears that the installation of 17.1 did not completely install all modules.

This one from when I installed the group management ap

I’ve added this one

I was then able to download and install 17.01 however I seem to have lost my old knowledge base app and although this shows calendar as deleted/missing there is a calendar app when I open egroupware.

I downloaded ever egroupware-epl app showing in synaptic.

The release notes egroupware KnowledgeBase is available but I don’t see it in the SUSE repository for Ubuntu. is there another repository?

I’ve gotten all of the apps back. I still have one lingering problem. The KnowledgeBase isn’t functioning correctly. My categories are not showing up and the articles are not all showing. However if I do a search it shows the correct number of articles and I can find and read the articles. It seems something is out of whack with the mysql table.

Any idea how to straighten it out?

Thanks. I didn’t recognize it under that name.

I was expecting a name more similar to knowledgebase or to the mySQL tables kb_something.

I’ve installed it and all of my articles are there but somewhere along the way my categories seem to have been misplaced. There are no Global Categories nor any under any user name.

Can someone tell me which table they should be in?

I was able to figure out the issue with my articles. I think I deleted the application when it was not installed correctly, deleting the categories but thankfully not the articles. I had to go through and recreate the categories then add the existing articles to the new categories. I’ve done that now and everything is back to normal, with the upgrade to 17.1
