Ralf, All,
I was successful in upgrading 1.8.007 -> 14.2 svn (current today). Following
the Upgrade/Setup/Manage Applications everything completed without error. The
Horde pear config/install went fine (but you guys really should have integrated
Squirrelmail instead (same philosophy as egw, same PHP base, etc.) So the
upgrade went well technically, great job, but there are some issues I need to
sort out.
ISSUE 1: my “Home” page that normally shows weekview calendar and infolog
summary is empty.
Screenshot:
http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/egw/homepage_nothing_in_cal.jpg
I couldn’t find out where to set the home page preferences. It used to be in
preferences. I can rt-click the home-page and add a “Favorite” from calendar,
etc, but there is no where to select weekview? How do I configure it?
ISSUE 2: How can I remove the extra login_contact.svg, login_facebook.svg and
login_twitter.svg from login. We have a policy against twitter, facebook and the
like and I cannot have that on my login. What file do I hack to remove those
entries and just get the static Key back that used to be there?
ISSUE 3: performance. The overall feel of the site is much slower than with 1.8
and the widgets on the page are jerky. From 1.0.0 - 1.8.0, display was always
fast and crisp. Is there a way I can configure Addressbook to paginate the
addresses like it used to with [A][B][C][D]… if that will speed things up?
Currently I see a diagonal “tiger-stripe” background pattern while whatever
widget is loading loads for 2-4 seconds before anything is displayed. (it kind
of looks like the default Adobe Flash blank window pattern before the image
loads) I have read the release/setup notes and set the cache at 128M, but it
didn’t help. I don’t mind the old table interface, if that can still be
configured to get the performance back. Any suggestions?
Also on the performance side, the new little collapsible dtree like widget cuts
off a lot of text: http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/egw/dtree_widget.jpg Is
it configurable so we can just get the table interface back so all
options/titles are readable?
ISSUE 4: phpgwapi/templates/idots/images/login-background.jpg is no longer
displayed on the login screen. Did the setting for this move somewhere? I can’t
seem to find it in setup any longer?
ISSUE 5: (little issue) Does the “Brain Icon” still exist somewhere for
knowledge base? (I was a bit fond of its distinct, but unorthodox, look)
ISSUE 6: Browser is stuck in loop when leaving project manager going to
calendar. I had to cancel the first calendar page request and click calendar
again to get it to finally load. I don’t know if the following are related, but
check of the webserver error log shows:

Other than these issues, all seems to be working well. Addressbook, Calendar,
Infolog, KnowledgeBase, Bookmarks, Filemanager, etc. all seem to be working and
the data made it over in tact. The ProjectManager does have a few fields that
are unreadable (See e.g. Title (“Tit”) in
http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/egw/project_mgr_title.jpg) There the 30-60
char title is collapsed into a 3-char space.
Thanks for all your help. Let me know if you have any information on these
issues. I would be interested in retaining/testing the 1.8 table oriented UI if
that can still be configured to compare the performance between the new old/UI.
Let me know if you would like me to run any additional tests. I still have
another 1.8.007 install that I haven’t upgraded yet, so I can run tests between
both.
Keep up the great work!
