Is there a direct upgrade path from CE1.6 to 14.1?
Sure, you can upgrade directly from 1.6 to 14.1.
Secondly what does this mean

We will make EPL’s group management available to our longtime
community users, as they are important for us!
When you submit your next usage statistic, you will receive
credentials to install it.

In particular submitting usage statistic, that’s the first I’ve heard
of this…
Usage statistic was added with 1.6.003 and asks you monthly to submit
usage data to egroupware.org server.

We use that data to determine if you are a long-term community member
and make our groups app available.

So if you have never submitted usage statistic (from version 1.8),
groups app will not be available for you.

Thought it’s not to late so submit it now

Where do I find usage stats settings on 1.6.xxx.

I’ve been using eGW since at least 2008 as evidenced by my posts on this list, but I started with
1.4.xxx so probably 2006 or so? Wow, it’s been a while

I have set up community egroupware for two churches in the past 2-3 years and had sent the statistics in several times.
I just resent the stats again but do not know how to receive the 14.1 upgrade notice you speak of.

list sometime ago that it had yet to be built. Is it still the plan to
have one?
No change in plan, thought for sure not for 14.1 final release and no
date when it will be available.
I notice there is no Knowledge Base application in the Demo. Is there
a plan to have something similar? If not what happens to existing
articles?

What version have you been submitting from and what was first version
this installation / submit-ID (in box at top of submission in admin) was
submitted with?

One of the above has to be a community version 1.8.* or 1.6.*

Not giving a submit-ID does not allow us to identify you / your
installation and therefore does NOT work!

I notice there is no “Home” app in the demo, I recall a message on the
list sometime ago that it had yet to be built. Is it still the plan to
have one?
No change in plan, thought for sure not for 14.1 final release and no

IMO the existing preferences to show certain tabs for new logons are quite enough
equivalent to not moan about lack of ‘home’
(if planned, the home tab setup could probably just be a shortcut / another way to
edit the above and make it a persistent choice, so the same tabs are ensured to be
open upon every logon)

Sir

I am using using egroupware 1.8 ce since long and always submit stats with the id.

But when i tried to get the id/pwd of group admin app, browser behaved badly and could not load the page when i refreshed i could not find any ID / PWD. Now how can i get the same, pl help.

One more question, i want to migrate this server to another server, should i now install 14.1 there and upload old db will it be possible?

I’ll have to try to figure out how to work around that before we
upgrade. Perhaps I could use a simple Wiki to get what I need.

I’m glad of that. It would be a real challenge to rework all of the
information we have accumulated.

We use a customized home page to provide our users a “Splash” Welcome
page and links to access to certain applications outside EGroupware.
It’s not very complicated but it allows them see all of this in one
place. I’m not seeing how tabs would provide an equivalent function, but
I haven’t played with the demo or the beta enough to know. Perhaps a
Wiki page could do the same thing or maybe there’s something else.

Yes, that’s how the update works.

You can install a new/empty 14.1, copy your old files directory
(/var/lib/egroupware/default/files by default, or what every you choose
in Setup), restore database dump and upgrade it in Setup.
