Active Sync or Zpush on Egroupware

Hi All,
Egroupware 1.8 works reasonably well. Just wandering if anyone knows how much work involved to integrate active-sync plugin to egroupware 1.8 backend.
My colleague and I will be using windows phone7 soon for syncing calendar & contacts. Is there away to build a active-sync plugin that supports Microsft Activesync or use something like zpush on egroupware backend?

Or the Egroupware developers are planning on including active-sync support to the next community version and how far away from releasing one with active sync?

If not I’m looking for a away to integrate activesync pluginto egw backend ? Any expert advise on this on how to acheive it maybe with the latest zpush or someother code?

ActiveSync (named eSync) support is already included in EGroupware’s
development version (Trunk).

It is not included in the current community version, only in latest
commercial version EPL 11.1:

It can only be added in the next major community version, because of
many dependencies.

I appreciate your reply. Your EPL version looks pretty promising and the interface looks lot better. About the development version, does the development trunk version have the same functionality as the 1.8 community edition such as (syncml,caldav and carddav) apart from eSync(Activesync)? if yes which devlopemnt trunk version number I should download?

My other question is if I want to customise/integrate egw web interface a bit more for my personal needs by adding my thrid party PHP modules to the interface such as a client lead manager,Dashboard, project invoicing and recurring invoicing, is the egroupware community edition web interface customisable using PHP so these modules will communicate to the egw back end? If possible do you know where I can find some egw developement guidelines? Thanks

Hi Warren,

The current trunk does have all functionality of the current community version plus some functionality normally only available in EPL. This does include all of the different synchronization features you listed.

I am running a bleeding edge server (for my personal use and as a playground) with the latest trunk and eSync is currently working almost flawlessly. I have five android devices syncing to it and everything is working at least as good as with my corporate (very big US corporation) Exchange 2010 mailbox.

The trunk is however nothing for the faint of heart. There are moments of big changes in the code, and if you checkout at that time you might run into issues as not everything might have been tested yet. Don’t blame anyone when that happens.
Otherwise, I would recommend going for the latest trunk (r38952 is running quite nicely).

Writing apps that integrate into eGroupware is not particularly difficult. Ralph Becker has written a tutorial that is accessible from the sidebox menu in the Developper tools in eGroupware. It is a bit outdated at this moment, but is still a great way to get started.
