Admin settings changes are not being retained

I recently updated to the latest egroupware version 20200901.
The settings I make from the Admin for Site config such as Remember Me Token and 2 factor authentication. I’ve been trying to disable these two settings, somehow they change back to default the next day.
Not sure what’s going on.

Maria db is used
lighttpd server is used
PHP version is 7.4
installation type : archive installation

I switched off 2FA and now the remeber me as well. After starting the server and deleting all caches it stays that way.

Did you delete your local caches and maybe the proxy cache?

I will test this on my site until tomorrow…

After I restart the server it changes the settings back.
Also after clearing the egroupware cache from admin , it brings back the settings.

My server restarts every night and that’s why the changes are brought back to default

Why are they being reverted after server restart and cache clearing.
Is there any other application that needs to be installed which I’m missing for this ?

Yes, of course. Like all other settings. Have a look at the table egw_config.

What happens if you do not restart the server at night (Is it really the restart?)?

Is it written correctly into the database when you set the setting?
You can test with 2FA for example:

The ones that I have noticed changing back are

1. 2fa
2. Remember Me
3. Logo image.

They only change after server restart.
what’s weird is I couldn’t find the value of 2fa_required or remember me in the egw_config table

I can’t see the config vars of 2fa, remember me token in my config table

Config values are cached, as they are accessed frequently, thought the cache get’s invalidate, when you change them in EGroupware. Our default cache is APCu / shared memory.

Maybe APCu got somehow corrupted and therefore the invalidation stoped working. A reboot / restart of PHP FPM was “fixing” the issue, or can you still reproduce it?

I had to manually enter the values config vars of 2fa and remember me in the config table and afterwards it worked
