Ajax loading of etemplate list view

Hello, I have an etemplate list view which has many rows which contain checkboxes in one of the columns. My user would need to select one or more checkboxes and submit so that their selections are stored. Now the problem is I have many rows which are being paginated into many pages. On every pageload or whenever a user hits the submit button, the $content array would be changed. So when a user goes from page1 to page2 the rows being selected on page1 are not being recorded and only the rows checked on page2 are being recorded into the $content[‘nm’][‘rows’][‘checked’] array, since that is the present location.

One solution I have is loading the list view using ajax in order to avoid a complete page load, and page load occurs only with a submit. But I am unaware of how to use ajax in egroupware.

Is there any other solution to record mass selections across many pages?? I am pretty sure, I am not the first person facing this situation.

Any input or help is appreciated.

If you look through the existing apps (ex: addressbook), you can see 2
ways of handling this. Both are to be used in combination with
searching and filters.

1. Change the number of rows visible.
2. Using searching and filters, reduce the rows to the ones you are
   interested in, and use a ‘whole query’ checkbox to indicate that all
   rows are to be used.

so what you would advise is to have everything on the same page?? One question that I would have is what if I have cross page/location situation that I am having right now?? Because my application would consist of 40-50 rows, which would have little in common between each other, so search filters is not an option for me. And I would have to loose pagination if I would have everything appear on the same page, so I’ll have to adjust with the UI.

I tried using sessions to push data in, but it handles the same as egroupware’s process_exec function handles. Am I being realistic in my requirement or is it possible the way I want it to be??

The selected checkbox are available in your get_rows callback, so you
could store them in the session and restore them, if they are part of
the currently shown set of rows.

Could you explain a little on how this would work?? Do you want me to store
the checked rows array during every page load?? I did not understand where I
would the paginate button work from, if I use another submit button, the
session is being refreshed. Can I put the session array so that all checked
rows of page are added to session on submit, and so on.
