All of a sudden db access denied

I got the following error message:

Database error

Connection with ADOdb::PConnect(localhost:3306, egroupware, $Password, egroupware) failed.

Maybe you not created a database for EGroupware yet.

I think during some upgrades the rights were reset because if I log into mysql I still see the db and all the tables. My db is called “egroupware_new”. So I run the following command in mysql:

mysql> GRANT ALL ON egroupware_new.* TO ‘egroupware_new’@‘localhost’ IDENTIFIED BY ‘my egroupware password’;

But still getting the error. What could be the issue? Or what is wrong with the above?

According to above error-message you use user “egroupware” and database
"egroupware", not “egroupware_new”!

So it has to be:

ALL ON egroupware.* TO ‘egroupware’@‘localhost’ IDENTIFIED BY ‘my egroupware password’;

Thanks for your answer. However, I tried and restarted all servers (mysql, apache2 etc) but still getting the same error, i.e.:

mysql> GRANT ALL ON egroupware.* TO ‘egroupware’@‘localhost’ IDENTIFIED BY ‘my password’;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

I changed the ‘my password’ to my correct one. What else could be the problem?

The strange thing is the following: I see both db in mysql: egroupware and egroupware_new. Where ergoupware was a db for an old version which should not be used anymore. many thanks for the help
