Hi Gabriel,
most easy would be to use the admin command line interface:
admin/admin-cli.php

So, I have app. 550 students that will be starting classes soon and
there going to need access to egroupware, this is not an issue but
having them fill out there account info doesn’t seem possible, have I
missed something here? The student group is a renamed version of the
’Default’ group without access to the calendar or apparently the ability
to set there own account info.
My plan is to batch add all of these names and email address. I have it
all figured out save one thing. when I create an account entry I give it
an entry of “-1” in the account_primary_group column of the egw_accounts
table. “-1” seems to be the identifier for the student group, and this
is shown in the profile when looked at threw the user edit function.
Now, the issue is that these students are not given the permissions of
the student group, when logging on as a student created in this fashion
one is greeted with.
Access not permitted
You’ve tried to open the egroupware application: home, but you have no
permission to access this application.
You have to give your students the right to run the home application.

If I go to the account as an admin and edit it to have a student checked
in the groups box all is well. I have a couple of questions about this.
Where/how is this values assigned on the DB? Does egroupware.egw_acl
have anything to do with assigning permissions on a per user basis, it
looks like it does but two entries look the same, save acl_account value
but one works and the other does not.
One last thing,is there anywhere I could get some documentation on the
DB structure and what the columns and or values mean? I tried the
developers docs section in the website but didn’t find anything, well I
found doc’s just not what I was looking for.
