Calendar email not sending

Egroupware team,

What are my alternatives for fixing this problem. I’ve installed the egroupware 1.6 had it setup and working. Then the email and the asynchronous timed services just stop working. I’ve checked the forums and I’ve also sent in questions myself. Some suggested fixes were to add the notification app for all users, which I did. Besides reinstalling egroupware completely, which would be problematic as it is actively being used, I have no idea what is wrong with the software. I’m using the built in smtp server on the Linux box, openSuse 11.0, php 5.2.8, mysql 5.0.67. I tested that it works by sending emails from the localhost.

I need some help.

Is only calendar notification via async-job affected?
(all other calendar notifications use the send class directly)
Do the asyncjobs pile up with your asynchronous timed services?
-> then it might be something connected to that cronjob call of yours, or
the way
it is handeled. (Switch on debugging there too)
If they don’t then check with the method in your jobs.
Usually you will find calendar.calendar_boupdate.send_alarm there, for
calendar
notifications. Since the send class is used directly check if
-the smtp settings for all users have gone bad (emailadmin, defaultprofile
…)
-the smtp server is not accepting mails anymore (you may switch on debug in
phpgwapi/inc/class.send.inc.php) to get detailed information from your smtp
server
with your webservers error log. You may check with your SMTP Servers logfile
as well.

If it was connected to the notification module itself you would have to
check if
-the notification chain selected does include email
-the users choice for notification is set (or preset) via preferences.
