Cannot login after installation

I installed egroupware. During the setup I told it that the url context should be /gw instead of /egroupware. Now it won’t let me login. I tried going to http://localhost/gw and it doesn’t recognize it. So I tried going to http://localhost/egroupware and it gave me a login screen. Once I submitted the login info then the following error shows:

Not Found

The requested URL /gw/login.php was not found on this server.

Ok, is this a known bug?

How do I fix this?

Ok, several issues as installation is under XAMPP:

Could not see egroupware database under PhpMyAdmin (dont’ know why, it just isn’t there, all others are there - maybe a caching problem???)
So tried to use MySQL CLI:
Could not connect to MySQL db from command line as it kept giving my a socket error.
Solution: you have to declare the mysql socket located under xampp on the command line:
mysql --socket=/opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock -u root -p

So using CLI I was finally able to see egroupware db and find the webserver_url record in the egw_config table and change it back to the default /egroupware and now finally I can login. I don’t know where the bug is but this problem is definitely a bug. If anyone else has managed to run egroupware from an alternate webserver url context I would appreciate knowing how to get it to work.

Hi,

the URL must match the directory you install egroupware (under the
docroot). Eg. your docroot is /var/www/html and you installed in the
subdir egroupware, you have to use /egroupware or
http://domain.com/egroupware. Alternativly you can use an install
location outside the docroot (eg. /usr/share/egroupware as our
packages), then you are free to specify the URL via an alias in apache
(that alias and the URL has to match again!).

So whether my install is inside or outside of docroot, if I just create an alias in Apache and make sure that it matches the werbserver_url field in egw_config table then everything will work?

Yeap, you can use Setup (upper login) >> Configuration to change the
URL, better not mess with the DB direct
