1.8 does not work with php7!
Latest 14.3.20160304 ist the first version to run on php7.
You could also try upcomming 16.1/Trunk as it implements some of the
features you were missing in 14.x, like a hideable left menu.
This one will fully support php7.

Thank you Ralf. I look forward to 16.1. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us have a
simple idots tables interface like 1.8 that DOES NOT reply on any external or
3rd party servers to bring in pieces of the UI. (that causes big problems
certifying attorney-client privileged information is not put at risk) SSL has
given us no end of grief 
The Laws governing lawyers require that law firms prevent any possibility of
disclosure of attorney-client protected information. When I have control over my
server and can verify it accepts no UI code from unknown sources, I can comply
with that mandate. When egw starts pulling in remote code (like the pixelegg ui,
etc.) to create the UI, I can no longer verify that protected information is not
put at risk. That is why I have worked so hard to keep 1.8 going.
Thank you for your work and please take this into consideration.
As long as 16.1 will provide more screen real-estate so we can see all the data
again, that will be a huge improvement over 14.x. I tried every which way to
make 14.x work, but I just couldn’t. I’m sorry, but it was a bad experience for
me after more than a decade of great experience with egw. Thanks again. Hope you
are making tons of $$.
