Hi Andy,
From what I can tell you have to install from trunk in order to get the
functionality that you need (someone please jump in and correct me if I’m
wrong).
Installing EGroupware from trunk (linux crib notes):
- download egroupware from trunk
linux:/ # md ~/downloads/
linux:/ # cd ~/downloads/
linux:~/downloads # svn checkout
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/egroupware
linux:~/downloads # cd ./egroupware/
linux:~/downloads/egroupware # svn checkout
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/admin/
linux:~/downloads/egroupware # svn checkout
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/developer_tools/
linux:~/downloads/egroupware # svn checkout
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/egw_pear/
linux:~/downloads/egroupware # svn checkout
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/etemplate/
linux:~/downloads/egroupware # svn checkout
http://svn.egroupware.org/egroupware/trunk/phpgwapi/
Repeat the above for all applications that you need to access…
-
Launch the the egroupware admin application and backup the databases
-
backup the egroupware 1.6.003 application files.
linux:/ # md ~/backup
linux:/ # mv /usr/share/egroupware/ ~/backup/egroupware.1.6.003/
- copy trunk file
linux:/ # cp -rp ~/downloads/egroupware/ /usr/share/egroupware/
- restore header.inc.php
linux:/ # cd /usr/share/egroupware/
option 1. create a symbolic link. (If you installed egroupware from RPM then
chances are that header.inc.php exists in /var/lib/egroupware/).
linux:/usr/share/egroupware/ # ln -s /var/lib/egroupware/header.inc.php
option 2. copy the header.inc.php from the 1.6.003 backup
linux:/usr/share/egroupware/ # cp ~/backup/egroupware.1.6.003/header.inc.php
- run config and update the applications and databases.
****** FAIR WARNING ******
I make no warranty claim. If you do not feel comfortable modifying the
egroupware databases by hand or diving into source code then installing from svn
is not for you! I’ve been hacking away at egroupware for 5 years and only now
feel confident that I can deliver the trunk version to my clients with no
service interruptions and only minor inconvenience.
Mike
Hi Mike,
I’m using 1.6.003 that I downloaded from egroupware.org. How can I get
1.7.003 vevision 26548?
I did grant access to the notification app to the email users.

Hi Andy,
Verify the following:

Which version did you install? According to the wiki the option is
available
in revision 26548. I’m running 1.7.003 Rev 31647 and I see the preference
’notify when new mails arrive on these folders’.

Did you grant access to the notification application to the e-mail
users?

Subject: [eGroupWare-users] Can’t get email notification to work
I’ve installed EGroupware for a small company. It’s been working pretty
well
so far, but I’ve got a big problem with no email pop-up notifications from
the web browser.
I’ve configured notifications as outlined in
http://www.egroupware.org/index.php?page_name=egroupware_wiki〈=&wikipage=Notifications.
.
I can’t see the “Check/uncheck the Folders in ‘Notify when new mails
arrive
on these folders’” in the user email preferences.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Andy
