Short answer you can change the names, without breaking the existing
code and/or eTemplates.
Do yourself a favour and dont attempt it. You cut yourself off from any
future updates.
From a technical point, db-Tools modify the table describtion file
($app/setup/tables_current.inc.php) and add a script to update an
existing database to the new schema ($app/setup/tables_update.inc.php).
It does NOT change the DB itself. That’s done via a setup run (on every
installation).

I’m modifying addressbook.edit with etemplate, changing , adding and removing
fields.
I’d like to change the relative names of the db table fields in the
egw_addressbook too so to match the UI.
I’ve tried changing it in db_tools but it does not seem to change anything
in the actual db.
If i change the field name manually , notthing work anymore …
What’s the right procedure?
Kind regards
