Closing popup

Hi,
I’ve developed a simple database app in etemplate but I’m stumped at the point when a popup window needs to close and pass information back to the main window. If I simply use a submit button (to save or search) the popup doesn’t close but the list template runs in the popup. If I close the popup using self.close() then the list template doesn’t run at all, although the data is saved back to the database.
I’m obviously missing something simple, can anyone help please?

Submit as normal, and send JS to close from the server.
