Could not open mailbox "INBOX" in EGW14.1.20141205

Hi, after upgrade from eGroupware-14.1.20141021 to eGroupware-14.1.20141205 EGW won’t create
mail account for new user anymore. I mean account (created by setup) witch I have for all users.
When I try to go to mail application as new user, I allways get this error “Could not open mailbox “INBOX””.
EGW can’t create mailbox on server for some reason for new user. I have EGW with LDAP and cyrus-imap.
When I first create mailbox with external utility cyradm, then everything is fine. But I need to create
this mailbox automatically after first new user login in EGW as it worked in eGroupware-14.1.20141021.

Can you fix this bug in next release or advice how to fix it myself.

Hi Lubos,

I’m not aware of any problem in that area. I was specifically working on
it for our Univention Support.

I can generally describe you how the process works and you might be able
to figure out what goes wrong for you:

a) Account creation by admin_cmd_edit_user triggers “addaccount” hook,
which emailadmin implements.

b) emailadmin_hooks::addaccount() calls self::run_plugin_hooks(), which
runs hook for all imap and smtp plugins for accounts valid for multiple
users

c) creation of INBOX happens only in Cyrus IMAP plugin (if a valid admin
account is configured!). We do not support that for Dovecot or any other
IMAP Server. AFAIK all IMAP servers can be configured to automatic
create an INBOX for authenticated users.

d) creation of other folders (Sent, Draft, …) happens when mail app
connects and does not find configured folders

Are you using a package install or archives, in the later case you might
need to register hooks, as I think I might have changed something there.

Apart from general process description above, there’s not much what I
can do with the given information and without support contract we wont
look at your installation.

Hi Ralf, thank you for guick responce.

I installed EGW 14.1.20141021 from this repository using aptitude.
deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/eGroupWare/Debian_7.0/ /
And everything worked fine. Mailboxes were created after new user loged in and
opened Email app.
And I only did aptitude upgrade. Now I have EGW 14.1.20141205. And mailboxes won’t
create anymore. And I did not change anything. Just made upgrade. So I do not know
what goes wrong.

I tryed to update to 14.2. But nothing changed. Same trouble. And if I try
delete user account for user created in 20141021. Mailbox of such user is not
deleted. I have to use cyradmin to delete mailbox.

Is there any way to debug creation of new user ?
Any log file that I can search through and got a clue why mailboxes suddenly are not created ?

Hi, I finally found why mailboxes are not created after upgrade from 14.1.20141021.
The cause of my problem was in this “$account->acc_admin_username && $account->acc_admin_password” two conditions added to class.emailadmin_hooks.inc.php in * Run hook on plugins of all mail-accounts of given account_id * section.
When I edited class.emailadmin_hooks.inc.php and remove above two conditions everything works fine again.

I do not know what exactly means. I guess some kind of verification. But I am not programmer at all.
I appreciate If some one can explain it to me.

But anyway I thing, that there is not necessity of that conditions.

At least, if some one will fall in my trouble. Here is one way how to fix it

users is the first thing I did after first EGW admin login. So there is no another account, only admin.
And of cause I specifed an admin username and password in IMAP settings. As you can see on the
picture.

In LDAP I am using organizationalUnit schema for groups and inetOrgPerson,posixAccount,shadowAccount schema
for users. And as RDN I have UID of user. I do not if there could be problem.
User cyrus is proxy for all other users.

Can you write the most suitable LDAP schema for EGW with cyrus IMAP, that you

Existence of these two settings is what the condition checks.

You should add some debug statements (eg. error_log) there to check why
it’s not working for you.

LDAP schema has little to do with IMAP server, it’s all about your MTA
(eg. Postfix).

We support following LDAP schemas:

• inetOrgPerson (first mail is primary, further mail addresses are
  aliases, no forwards or disabling of account)
• old and new qmailUser
• Mandriva mailAccount
• Suse suseMailRecipient
• dbmailUser
• Univention univentionMail (no forwards)

Other schemas are easy to support, just extends emailadmin_smtp_ldap and
define constants containing attributes names different.
