Custom fields / Country list

Hello,

I am using an old version of eGroupWare (1.8.004 on PHP 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.26: apache2handler)… Is there a way to add a country field to a calendar event? I am trying to do it through customfields but I do not want to list a gain all the countries using the selection box. I saw that in some preferences, there already has a list of countries.

Hello Gilles.
if I understand correctly, you mean a custom field of the type “Select-Country” prefilled with the Countries used i.e. in the address-book app. As far as know there is no such type of custom field available yet. I personally think it should be easy to add it, but for sure not for an older version. May I ask why you are still running 1.8.004?
The current version is 19.1 and has many interesting new features.

No, a custom country field is currently not available.
In the current 19.1 we use something like this (e.g. in adress book):

We will discuss this internally to see if this is feasible with reasonable effort.
If we include this, but certainly not in an old version.
You can certainly program this into it yourself. If you know how it works and you have a suitable installation.

And, as @AlexS already asked: Why do you use such an old version?
It’s also a security risk. In EGroupware (few) security problems have been fixed since then and your PHP is not maintained anymore:

You are right about the versions. We are way too much behind in terms of security (and probably features)… However we have had some slight modifications done to the software and I am not really able to update the system and everything so it makes a complicated old way to do it…

Here is where we would like to add a choice of countries (the default one would be great):
It is in any event we create in the calendar. Either in the main part or in the personalized part

Since we do not really need all the countries, I have made work around by using the Select box and in case there is a new one, I can still add manually another entry.

I will try to update our configuration, but this may take a lot of time for me. Thank you for the links for the way to do it.
