Db-tools - additional addressbook fields

Hello,
I have added a number of additional fields to the addressbook table and addded them to a screen using e-templates. The edit screen looks perfect but whe you select to display the addressbook screen the additional fields are showing as text boxes not in bold. Fields such as organisation are showing as a label in bold.

Is there any way to make my additional fields display the same as the standard fields?

Hi Nick,

eTemplate knows nothing about stock addressbook fields or the ones you
added. If you use the same widget type AND CSS class, you get the same
display.

Anyway I can only warn you to alter the DB schema, you will no longer be
able to update EGroupware! Why not using custom field for what you need
to do?

Hello Ralf,
Many thanks for the prompt response. The problem with using custom fields is they all have to gon on a seperate tab (as I understand it). If I could place selected custom fields on diffrent tabs I would not need to add any additional fields.

I was using standard fields for different purposes but could see that I would soon run out of these.

I thought my adding the fieleds through tdb-tools this would enable us to upgrade without a problem. But I guess I thought wrong.

I will have to rethink what we are doing. It may be that we continue with this but have to use extra steps if we decide to upgrade. E.g. Creating a copy of the old database, update to the new version and then use an sql script to add and populate our addirional fields.

You can completly remove custom fields tabs from the etemplate and place
single custom fields in the template.
Either use a cf-widget (which “knows” the type of cf) or use regular
eTemplate widgets. In both cases you have to prefix the cf name with a
hash (#).

You can currently not remove just a view fields from cf tab, but would
also be easy to add.

Most eTemplate widget are documented at least in the doc-block of the
class (in the source). Unfortunately there’s only very limited docu
there for customfields_widget class. But I can read the sources

I guess I will just have to learn to read the sources.

One last question. I’m trying to show the contacts unique id on the screen (contact_id) but it does not want to work. I have set the widget to be an integer, the name is contact_id and it is sent to read only. When I open the screen nothing is displayed.

Also, a request for future releases. It would be good (at least for me!) if there could be dependant list boxes in the custom fields.

Maybe you missed the fact, that addressbook removes the 'contact_'
prefix, so you need to name the field just id.

depedant listboxes. What you select in the fist listbox will affect what is displayed in a second listbox.

I understand the principal but will have to a bit of heavy learning to get it to work.

One last question, on trhew addressbook.index page you can search all the custom fields. I would like to set this up to search only selected custom fields. I tried using the next match custom fields header and put the custom field name in the name box prefixed with # but did not want to work.

If I can get this working then I think I’m pretty much done on this project.
