Hi Olivier,
that’s a really kind offer …
For me, drag and drop in calendar would be a real important task to achieve. I did that already with wz_dragdrop and it’s implemented in current /trunk (you must enable it in common settings), but there are some things which aren’t nice with wz_dragdrop. E.g. if you are in monthview, you’ve got about 300-500 “droppable” js obects (all the areas where you can drop an event) and this enormously slows down site interpretation in the browser (site loads about 5 seconds in monthview).
Maybe you can achieve a better implementation with dojo. The involved files I use with wz_dragdrop.js are:
- phpgwapi/inc/class.dragdrop.inc.php (my wz_dragdrop wrapper class)
- calendar/inc/class.uiviews.inc.php (instanciation of the js objects for events and all the droppable areas)
- calendar/inc/class.ajaxcalendar.inc.php (some [primitive ATM] ajax calls if you drop a calendar event)
Greetings
Christian
Hi Christian,
well the good thing would be that you give me a specific widget (with
DnD or whatever else) that you need to achieve, and i’ll make it and
create a article on the wiki explaining what kind of library did i use
for it, and what are the features provide by the library.
It will be quicker for me to do that, and that will help people to
understand how to use dojo.
Then just give me something that is critical for you, and i’ll do it.
Regards,
Olivier

Hi Oliviert,
nice to hear again from you. We met at the conference … (the dragdrop guy)
have you tried to implement dojo in parts of eGW? It would be interesting
for me to see if there will be problems or not, cause scriptaculous,
wz_dragdrop,… they all work perfect in their demos, but the problems came
up with implementing in practical things like eGW calendar where, for
example, hundreds till thousands of dynamic objects must be loaded on one
site.
Maybe you can give dojo a try in some eGW app and we can see how it works
there? Just a suggestion …
If I find time, I’m really interested in trying dojo too … but first I’m
interested in helping to get the next version of eGW stable.
Bye
Christian

It’s impressive if it gets past users fears of unwanted running code on
their
machine. What browser enables does the viewer need to allow? No more
than a
normal javascript web site? Is Push a “low security fear” thing?

Hi all,
