eGroupware 1.2.1 fails with LDAP based setup

Hello again,

just decided to run a brand new installation of eGroupware on a brand new
installed Fedora Core 5 machine, where everything is ldap based. It failed!!
“Cannot bind to LDAP server…”

I backed up the egroupware directory, removed the database and copied the
files from RC8 over the whole thing.

And it worked!

Then I copied again the 1.2.1 files over the 1.2RC8 - and still, it works.

1.2.1 in broken by means of setup with LDAP (as it looks)

Check the differences in the header.inc.php file.

you should read my first posting correctly.

I did a very clean install, because it was a brand new installation and I
ran all steps until I wanted to create the admin/demo users accounts.

This failed with 1.2.1 and it did not fail with 1.2RC8

It was no custom upgrade in the first step. It was a NEW installation.

so anyone, who has problems with 1.2.1 during ldap setup, should try then
some older versions and upgrade after it.

Hi Jasjar,

we have a report from a commercial support customer, who told us the
admin account creation in setup is not working in case of LDAP.

Lars will fix this in the next days.

hmm, i had trouble with the export of existing sql accounts to ldap.

egw was not able to create groups in ldap.

but after recreation of admin account via setup, default and admin
group were created in ldap.

for a fresh install only the anonymous group is missing.

I upgraded an LDAP setup from version 1.0.x to 1.2RC8 and then to 1.2 all
without any major problems (i.e. took less than all day :))… I did make a
new header.inc.php every time though.

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
