Egroupware 1.6 and 1.8 - Debian Lenny - Session Timeout

Good afternoon,

I have a problem with the session timeout of eGroupware.

I don’t know if it becomes from Apache2 misconfiguration, but even if I put longer value on :

• Timeout for sessions in seconds (14400)
• Timeout for application session data in seconds (86400)

the session ends every 30 minutes.

I have configured session managed by cookie, but it doesn’t work either.

If someone have a solution (maybe Apache configuration), I’ll appreciate this.

I have tested your solution with success on eGroupware 1.6 (server Debian Etch)

I will have monday afternon, confirmation if it’s work on eGroupware 1,8 (server Debian Lenny)

So, to be more precise :

On both architecture (Lenny or Etch) :

1. I have opened the file /usr/share/egroupware/phpgwapi/inc/adodb/session/adodb-session.php
2. Found the “word” : session.gc_maxlifetime
3. Changed the value of $_lifetime from 1440 to 28800 (a day work = 8 hours)
4. Saved the file
5. Restarted Apaache

Here you can see the whole code modified

It is the only thing I changed, and it works great now.

I really wondered, as the changed code is NOT used by EGroupware.

Any other idea ?

I wrote it many times: session timeout is global for all php scripts,
setting it in EGroupware allone only helps, if no other php scripts run
on that host. Simply change session.gc_maxlifetime it in your global
php.ini:
