EGroupware 16.1: "Mail server closed the connection unexpectedly."

Hello Everyone,

i’ve been lately having a big problem in EGroupware using the Mail software.
I made a copie of EGroupware with all the files and database properly, but since then the copie isn’t working properly.
The only problem that i have is that when i go to the mail program it shows an Error “Mail server closed the connection unexpectedly.”.
I have made some research and looked everywhere and couldn’t find a way to fix it.

This error is related with a library called Horde which serves as a Web Mail Client.
But actually there shouldn’t be any error like this because both Instances are in the same server configured with the same properties.
They have only its own database and file directory.

Does anyone have any idea regards this issue?

Hi Neo,

is there anything in the mail server log?

You have created a second instance in the Setup/Header Admin?

no there’s no error log in the mail server but EGroupware echoes this error out:

Yes i have created a second instance in Setup/Header Admin.

I have to mention that the email addresses are the same in both instances.
But they dont work only in the second one.

That looks like PHP has a problem to establish the SSL connection to your server.

We have a setting in the mail account, if TLS (>= 1.0) is required or not (SSL). Maybe that setting is different in your two installations.

Hello Ralf,

As I said before, both instances have the same settings.
But you are right. Apparently, I cannot make a secure mail connection in the second instance.
When I switched the settings to the non-secure connection it seems to work fine.

Another thing is also that when I update the setting for a mail account the mail orders show itself in the right place.
First, it shows “Mail server closed the connection unexpectedly.” and after clicking edit account and then apply or save without changing anything the error disappears.

Is there a chance that somehow the first connection get’s refused and the second one goes through?
