eGroupware and Lightning - Login Error?

Hi,

got egw 1.8.002 running, and want to create an online calendar with lightning 1.9 thunderbird plugin. So i created a user with Calendar and calDAV permissons.

Anyway, the user cant login, the authentication fails. LoginName and Passwords are correct, there a no login error logs in egw.

Also tried via ICS, but no sucess…lightning does not even ask for a login in this mode.

I got no idea why this simple thing is not working, so any idea welcome

okay first things first. Please make sure of the following are set before we continue:

Under your site configuration >> Security >> Enable xmlrc service is set to Yes
In Thurnderbird

a. Click on >> Events and Tasks >> Calendar.

b. Uncheck the “Home” calendar

c. Under the “home” calendar, right-click >> New Calendar >> On the Network >> Next

d. Under Format select CalDAV

e: Location enter http(s)://server/egroupware/groupdav.php/username/calendar and click Next, give your calendar a name and click Finish. At that point you should get an authentication prompt.

f. Back in the calendar screen, right-cick on your new calendar and click on Synchronize Calendars

I did all the steps, but

this time no Authentication Window appears in Thunderbird
when creating a new term, an error pops up:

MODIFICATION_FAILED
Status-Code: 2147500037, Die Anfrage kann nicht verarbeitet werden.
Server Replied with 405

Note that i have installed egw as Plesk Application on a subdomain. I think your URL is wrong, since Lightning at least asked for Login, without the username in the Link…as it is written in many tutorials.

Have also tried again without the username in the URL; the Login Pops up, but still no success…it cant login.

Every installation I’ve done, the username is always in the link without it doesn’t work. Also, the following permissions are also set on the user:

Calendar
CalDav, CardDAv and GroupDAV server
syncml

Tried both ways, it won’t work.

That’s a must! I would wonder if you get CalDAV/CardDAV working with the
old version, Clients are constantly changing: you need the newest version.

Anyway, need to correct two things said in this thread:

do NOT enable xmlrpc: it is disabled by default as a security
precausion, and it is not used by Lightning/Thunderbird
do NOT enable SyncML: use CalDAV/CardDAV instead

Hallo,
ein alter Post, aber bei mir das gleiche Problem.

Das System:
eGroupware community Version 1.8.005 (gehostet bei 1und1)
Das Unterverzeichnis /egroupware auf dem Server wird direkt angesprochen über eine Subdomain
Lightning 2.6.4 unter Windows XP

In Thunderbird ist als Verzeichnis eingetragen http://www.subdomain.domain.de/groupdav.php/nutzername/calendar/
Es erscheint ein Authentifizierungsfenster. Er nimmt die Daten aber nicht an -> das Fenster erscheint sofort wieder.

Auch bei der manuellen Eingabe von “http://www.subdomain.domain.de/groupdav.php/nutzername/calendar/” im Firefox erscheint das Fenster. Zugang ebenfalls nicht möglich.

Für den Nutzer “nutzername” ist in den individuellen Einstellungen sowohl die Anwendung “CalDAV, CardDAV und GroupDAV Server” als auch “syncml” aktiviert (wobei letzteres ja wohl nicht erforderlich wäre).

Mir ist es schleierhaft, was da schief läuft. Womöglich eine grundsätzlich Server-Einstellung (also außerhalb von eGroupware)? Oder doch eine administrative Einstellung/grundsätzliche Freigabe von “CalDAV, CardDAV und GroupDAV Server”, die ich übersehen habe?

In a pop-up-window, I have to fill in the data for authentification. This fails -> the window-prompt is returning again.

The user “username” hat the right to use “CalDAV, CardDAV und GroupDAV Server” and also “syncml” .

I wonder what is wrong. Could it be something with the server (outsiede the groupware software)? Or did I forget to set some special preferences?!

Most likely your hoster uses FastCGI.

Basic authentication (required for CalDAV/CardDAV) does not work without
extra configuration:

nothing to do in the file, you need to implement what is described in
the header of the file on your webserver:

Otherwise authentication request will be send over and over again, as
password is NOT available to PHP!

Yes, or vhost configuration or .htaccess, nothing you can do in
EGroupware itself (at least not for all webservers).

I added

in my apache2.conf, I restarted it but there is no changes
Do you have ideas of where I can find the problem?
